Are the Saurians (Uncommon) and Borg bridge officers still the only ones with Efficiency?

I've been gone for quite a while. When I left, Saurians (beside borg) were the only ones with this space trait and could only be gained during advancement of your character around the Leutenant levels. These BO's were selling for 500,000-1,000,000 EC at that time. Now I see them in the tens of millions price range.

Are there are other ways to get them now? Could someone who knows for sure let me know just how to get them in case I am not recalling correctly or new ways have become available.

( I need just one more Engineer with efficiency )

Thanks!

AT present the only source for the Efficient Trait is the Borg engineering BOFF and the Uncommon Saurian Bridge Officers Candidate you get from Lt -> Lt Commander. I would speculate that we may see some other sources of Efficient once the DOFF System get's here.

Personally, I'm waiting for another C-Store Boff like the Aenar & Caitians. SiF III used to be pretty rare and pricey till the Aenar came along.

Thanks everyone! Guess this gives me a reason to rank up my alts now.

They'll probably not get one though but then I suppose their EC will get pooled to buying one..

Efficient boffs are superfluous if your captain skills are properly planned and thought out. Usage of a skill point guide like the one in my sig should be a good primer, then a look at PeterVetinari's excellent ship power guide should be info you'll love.

Efficient Boffs are not supurflous to those who like to mini-max things. I know the numbers intimately. And yet, I still will grab Efficient BOs when I see them.

Thanks for the awesome link! I appreciate your concern but please do not worry, I've been playing since Beta and only had just returned after little hiatus of overwhelming bills. Never-the-less, great resource!

Indeed, I rely a lot on my current 4 with Efficiency because I do min/max and tweak my power settings around quite a bit on the fly during battles. Voice Commands with WSRM works wonders for this. I just changed from my Advanced Heavu Cruiser Retrofit to the Dreadnaught Cruiser, so I deffinately now need one more Efficient BO to help make up the lost maneuverability in the change. Doesn't seem like much, but all these efficient BOff's do indeed help out a great deal, especially during battle when switching power settings is needed.

To the numbers game:

An Efficient Captain trait allocates a +10 to efficiency.
An Efficient BOff allocates a +5

You obviously need two to match the captain trait, with one guaranteed one from the Liberated Borg BOff you can get from the Cstore.

This way, you can build a captain wit out the efficient trait and still be effective if you care to spend the EC's for an Efficient Saurian.

Any more and you run into the efficiency skill top limit bonus of 125 total (captain skill and trait if applicable, and BOff trait if applicable)

Also, efficiency only works when your power levels are lower than 75!

Watch the MATH segment of the excellent podcast STOked this week, EP 89: Into The Crossfire for extra info on it.

Yep, I usually never place Shields or Weapons power above 70, unless I'm being drained and need a quick boost (or am in a shuttle with only one BOff) in conjunction with EPS Power Transfer and my EPS (flow regulator? cannot recall the correct name off hand) console items.

I also have several skills that boost my power levels respectively. Power, at least for me, has never been an issue.

Well I do not undestand this "I need an efficent BO" thing.

You can have these two very easy:
Liberated Borg Captain (Lifetime subscription)
Borg Engineering BO (c-store)

Together they make a +15 bonus to all systems.

My next step was to buy beam arrays with "accuracy". So I got a +15 bonus to that.

I also use two human BOs who have the special trait "Leadership" and "Teamwork". In space human BOs give a bonus to subsystem repair.

I also use the borg set.

So as an engineer with this built I can fight up to 3 escorts in PvP without problems.

You do not need more than two efficient crewmember. All you need is a good balanced crew, the right skills and enough weapons with accuracy.
