ok so people prefer regen on escorts for pve.

covariant for pvp.

my question is. @ what rate do we calculate how much or how fast a reinforced shield you click on is receiving energy from the other 3 shield facings.

i was assuming (unknown if this is right) that when you click to reinforce a shield, it sends energy into that shield at 4x the shield recharge rate, because the other 3 shield facings now need to recharge as well. and as they bleed energy to the shield you clicked, they are recharging, and with regen shields, they actually stay full power.

if you notice, your side/back shields never go down in power really when reinforcing when oyu have regen shields.

probably because the amount of regen, exceeds how much is being transfered into the shield you are reinforcing.

in the end, for escorts, the amount of power you are transfering into the shield being hit is not fast enough, unless you have on a resist power or you click some other power like emergengy shields. by itself, it doesnt get power fast enough to keep up.

therefore the reasoning behind my use and pro-use of regen might be flawed, if the regen isn't being fed into the shield you click at 4x the recharge rate, perhaps a dev could clarify,unless someone knows for sure.

Cryptic are awful at telling us wtf is actually going on inside the black box.

Someone is going to need to pop open their character screen (which shows shield energy) and do some experiments.

I am actually pretty disquieted by the lack of pre-release dev blogs we got about how the damn game works. If the players don't understand how systems work it makes it IMPOSSIBLE for them to give meaningful feedback (anecdotes aren't data).

yeah it is a little frustrating to get items in game and there is no clear "How it works" for us to be able to use things in the roles they are intended effectively.

a rough example a Deflector Dish modifier item, or a deflector field modified item.

My understanding is our shields are Deflector Shields right?

Does the Deflector Dish dispense/originate our shields and if so, does the Deflector Dish item strengthen our shields or does the Deflector Field modify our shields?

Or are they even related?

I know if you get an item that gives a % to recharge rate, but is that to the base shield modifier or is it accumilative? If you have 2-3 Engineering Slots, and 2-3 Shield Regen Consoles, they total or you go with the highest % and sell the other?

I know some consoles stack and or modifiers but do they all stack?

I think they could have simplified it, instead of making it a calculus question on a 5th grade math test. (not a literal analogy)

Deflector dish has nothing to do with shields.

As far as I can tell, the only use for Defelctor Shields, Emiiters, etc. are for skills which say "Operation: Emmiter" for emiiters, etc.

I agree that the tool tips can be more clear about what they affect. Some items I suspect are global bonuses compared to specific system bonuses, but it is difficult to tell. In addition, the ship character sheet doesn't modify for many of these items.
