Couldn't think of anywhere better to post this. If a moderator feels this belongs somewhere else, please do move it.

Everyone has seen the +1.5 shield power, +2 aux power, etc. engineering consoles. The best I've seen so far is 2.5, and I assume that 3 is probably the best in the game currently.

Does anyone even bother using these?

They seem a massive waste of a console slot for such a small boost that most captains would be getting (more) from Starship Warp Core Training. Furthermore, almost everyone would be slotting an EPS Flow Regulator instead of one of these consoles.

My suggestion is either remove them from the loot tables, or increase their stats to be worth the console slots. For example, a +3 across the board (all 4 systems) would be worth slotting, or a +5 to a single system. Or perhaps they could increase the system power cap beyond 125.

They are fine.

If you don't think they're better than the other thing you have to put in that slot, use that other thing.

It's a good concern. We would need to hear from someone that uses those consoles and finds them useful. But if no one uses them and no one finds then useful, then there is something wrong with them. Nice catch, and lets hear from more people.

They're useful for Science Ships and Escorts to be sure. A science ship can put multiple + AUX consoles in thier engineering slots, and thus have more power for their science skills. Similarly, an Escort can put +Weapon power in their engineering slots - and potentially have them always maxed at 125. Or they can have + Engine to actually make use of thier speed in combat (the + Weapon power will be more likely).

Its cruisers, really, who won't get much use out of those consoles as they need either resists or EPS consoles or RCS consoles, and ironically, it is the +shield ones that will get minimal usage.
