How did you level up so fast? I mean really. What is the secret? I am leveling so slowly, it is physically painful.

I'm almost Captain, and I got there by concentrating solely on Patrol missions, then, every so often, catching up on the Episodes.

You Que up for PvP while doing the highest level Defend Sector mission available...... PvP matches are fast and ques tend to be fast making skill gain fast and inbetween pvp ques you do the defend missions which if your doing the hardest one for your level has a good skill payout.....(Change instances withing to find the one closest to being done) Just keep rotating thru this you will occasionally get some good gear from PvE but you will be able to buy all gear to keep your ship tip top at K7.....

And there is your secret to get Captain or Admiral fast.....

here is the post i made on our fleet forums.

Hey guys,

Some of you have asked me how i leveled so fast.

First off all i was in Closed and Open Beta, i got to 37 in Closed Beta and 42 in open beta so i already knew a hell of a lot off the game before headstart began. I had a press closed beta key so i could log on 24 hrs a day 7 days a week i wasnt restricted to normal closed beta people who could only log in on certain days

Now in CB and OP i tested all types of ships and combo's, although i always said to myself that i would go for a Science + Science ship combo i found out that this combo is actually the fastest way to level up. Although Tactical + Science ship came close too but i didnt wanted to play tactical as my main.

The tactical + escort ship does work but you still take damage which slows youre levelling speed. if full dps is yr thing then a tactical + tactical with turrents in the back will also work but not as effective.

Also i never grouped up, bottom line its fun but it doesnt give you an increase in xp as ship xp is shared amongst the group. it just takes longer to complete a mission. Everything i do is based on time versus XP gain.

Now for my levelling:

1-11

Simple follow the missions
do starbase 24 (only the space part) once . This actually applies for all fleet stuff

11-21

This is the hardest part, but you get a 2nd aft slot which you put a torp in.
Same stuff again you do the missions/patrols etc but also now the exploration missions kick in. Every time its reset i did them, not only did they give badges but a lot of xp. Ill make a seperate section on the Genesis system.

21-31

Now you really start to become a levelling speeder. this is mainly due to Viral Matrix. This Lt Commander skill makes the NPC stop and unable to do anything for about 15 seconds. In this time you can kill a Escort or BS spawn just time the Torpedo High yield properly. The 3 BOP spawns are still a pain but with an aft torpedo this still goes fast.Same thing applies : missions, patrols and do the exploration missions.

31-41

Now it even goes faster. you can have Viral I and Viral III. Only having Viral III will slow you down as the cooldown is too long. Also you get the Luit Tact station for which you should use Attack pattern Beta (ill explain later. Same thing again on the levelling: Missions,Patrols and exploration missions.


Exploration missions:

Every time you do a patrol or storyline mission your Exploration mission is reset or close, even if it isnt reset head off to the cluster and start a mission but dont finish it, clear to the last pack and check if the mission has reset. If you were lucky to get a fast genesis one then just complete it for some bonus xp.

The most important thing to reconise the missions to pass up to.

See a planet and it say aid the planet skip it.
See a planet and it says colonist need help (or any other indication for battle) skip it
See a planet which says Radiation/plants or whatever gogo full impulse.

there are a couple of real fast missions:

1) Investigate the astroid base (you should see it in front of you) or investigate ship in distress.

This mission is basicly done in 5-7 mins top. You first get 1 spawn, then 2 more and then a Battle ship. They all spawn near the asteriod or ship. So you dont need to fly around the place. These are the best ones

2) Find plants/artifacts on planets.

These are the second best ones. They just need you to walk around and scan some stuff.
Using your scanner makes you point to it. Use your sprint key a lot to speed up the process.

3) investigate abandoned base.

These are a bit longer and annoying finding the computers to click, i have done so much i kinda now all the places where the stuff spawns (which champber the computers are that is).

I still did them for levelling cause i knew the routes.

4) investigate wrecks

Also a good and fast mission just 5 scans in space and done.

5) scan anomolies

scan 5 anomolies, skip it as the mission does not give any xp.

Bridge officers:

Space:

Tactical one : Torpedo High Yield , Attack pattern beta
Tactical two : kinda up to yourself as its admiral ships only. i personally like tactical team atm cause of the increase in beam and torp strenght.
Engineering : emergency power to weapons I, Emergency power to weapons II
Science one : Tractor beam, Energy Siphon I, Viral Matrix I , Viral Matrix III
Science two : Jam Sensors, feedback pulse, Energy Siphon II

Ground:

I always used 2 science 1 tactical and 1 engineer.

Make sure they have medical tricorder and recharge shield. The rest i kinda optional. i liked things like phaser turrent, plasma grenade and anything that does AOE damage.

Equip 2 split beam rifles and all BO with split beam rifles.

As science officer you get AOE debuffs (tricorder, grav shift, taction) ass this stuff hits all they can explose all, ive whiped out entire packs in 5 seconds (again speed in mind).

Space combat:

Power settings:

Max to weapons , this sets your aux to 25 and engines too, but as science ships get a bonus to aux it doesnt hurt yr turnrate and science ships are pretty agil from the bat off.
With emergency power to weapons and Energy Siphon you will always run at 125 weapon power which causes your beams to hit for 2000 non crit at a fully debuffed target (well mine do now at admiral) but you the idea.

Consols:

Engineering : Plasma Coils (+weapon damage)
Tactical : Phaser damage
Science: Sensor Probers Sensor array and deflector have the most impact, especially Sensor probes is important as it effecets Viral Matrix and array helps your sensor scan debuff.

To give you an idea, with my current ship my Viral Matrix III Hold for 31 seconds, Viral Matrix I for 21 seconds. As you can refreh it while shooting at your target this gives so much time to kill stuff.

Now to attack a single target:

Full impulse till 16km.
hit viral matrix at 10k but dont shoot. wait till 8km (at 7.96 they start firing at you) now start your front weapons. Viral matrix has hit and your just full impulsing to the target.
Energy siphon to get more power to your weapons, emergency power to weapons. at 5km bang up attack pattern beta (this debuffs your target) and click high yield torp, now click sensor scan (which debuffs your target for an other 50%, my current sensor scan does -70% damage resistance) i garantee you that your high yield torps hit for at least 7000 at L21 with this combo.
This will kill anything before it can even get a shot off.

Skills/talents.

This is way too much to write down but bottom line i maxed Phasers and Quantom torps, i want photons but the badges at admiral only give quantom weapons. Also i skilled up all talents which effect viral matrix and other science skills.

Ship gear:

Weapon of your choice + torp front and back
Deflector : i always used Tachyon for the Seonsor array and probes (viral matrix!)
Shield: you dont need one tbh but i used highest regen ones.
Engine: if you dont take the Blue IV engine from City of Never quest then i dont know its the only engine i have used and still use it at L45. The +5 to all power settings is way too good for this item



Conclustion:

I leveled so fast cause atm the game doesnt have a cap on debuffs and they stack, you can represh viral matrix without a immunity to holds. Also stuff doesnt hit me so i have no downtime and stuff dies so fast that i can complete missions in record times. I was the 2nd Admiral on the server and i dunno how Kosch did it maybe he was more lucky with the uptime of the server . i took 2D 19 minutes to get to 41.

Well the very easiest was ist the following.

Since you get all credit for Deepspace Encounters for JUST BEIING THERE. Do the following.

Get from sulu the Defend sector mission.

Enter deepspace encouter, preferably with a lively crew already.

Full Impulse out of sight somewhere in that instance.

Wait for mission complete.

Retake Mission.

Repeat till the level you wantet to get.

I hear some people are even using some third party tools to retake missions by macro and just leave it like this for a 2 days. ILLEGAL! (stilll done by some)

Welcome to admiral.

This is due to horrible design and the missions never run out , just lower their rewards at some point. Then you have to move to the next 'stage' of defens sector (other sector)

Exploration missions can be a goldmine, and you get Exploration credits to buy some sweet gear, on par with PvP rewards.
