Good one! :applause:

If you don't mind, I'm gonna copy that and put it in a few other forums.

Not necessarily true. I known some teenagers to be rather civil most of the time, and known some *adults* that can throw tantrums that would put a 4-year old to shame.

So, since these seemed to catch on pretty well with the civilized populace....

Here are 11 more little Axioms that apply mainly to the STO forums (some are more general).

Eleven More Axioms;

1; If your post is a complaint, don't bother with a new thread.
There are already 50 or so, pick one of them so that you don't end up looking like a silly computer-illiterate who can't find the search function.
(Not that you are necessarily illiterate if you don't do this, its just that being consolidated and organized makes you look smarter.)

2; Somebody somewhere somehow will find some reason to accuse you of being a troll/fanboi even if you're not. Don't let it upset you, otherwise you stoop to that level in an attempt to reply.
Either say something witty and move on, or reply logically and civilly.

3; If you can't stand conflict don't set foot outside 10-Forward.

4; MK-IV Integrated-Anti-Flame suits are required gear.

5; If you lighten up a bit you might not mind the flames/conflict/arguments so much

6; Try to remember that all the civil ones among us are people who share a like/love/or obsession with Star Trek and possibly this game. Seek out and congregate with these people for a better experience.

7; Respect the other sub-cultures/groups within the forums/games.
Maybe RP is your thing maybe not. Respect the other party all the same.
The same goes for ethnicity, religion, opinions on cannon etc...
Respect-in = Respect-out where civil forum members are concerned.

8; Reputation exists online too. Sure you can just start a new account if you FUBAR yourself too bad, but if you invest in your reputation you can enjoy respect, community, laughs, and the shared knowledge/wisdom of others who do the same.

9; Correcting grammar/spelling is good from time to time, and is fine when someone totally mutilates it beyond recognition.... but nobody loves the people who correct your spelling grammar every single time.

10; Whiners complainers and trolls are much like death taxes and politics;
They are a universal problem that can never be totally exterminated.
Do what the mainstream media does and alternately make light of, and logically adress the problems.
(Wait scratch that, mainstream media rarely makes sense)
Just because we can't kill all the roaches in the house doesn't mean we can't make sure there are fewer of them.

11; If you ask about Sulu may God have mercy on your soul.
No one else will.

While this one is there in a fashion I just love the way it goes how I first read it:

Always keep your words sweet incase you need to eat them later.

I wish more people around the Internet as a whole would read/write/follow examples such as these. Heck, I wish PEOPLE as a whole would do this, online or not.

Well I believe in a different sort of 'growing up'

The world has it all wrong you see, people lack maturity but 'grow up' in the sense that they grow into the social political and cultural conventions of society...

I prefer to stay more childish in my sense of humor and adventure but to pick up maturity and wisdom as I go without conforming to conventions in the process.

Not sure you'd call it 'growing up' but hey :p

I'm gonna give you +rep for this... if only this forum had a rep system so we could slowly weed out the trolls without a point to make.
