really this is the best it does. that craig Zincavich or whatever claimed it could create thousands of locales. so why am i always seeing the same thing. the same randomr research facility that looks like memory alpha the same aliens with different names. and why is klingon weaponry used by civilians?
not really impressed with your so called genesis thingy.
like the game. not impressed with the lies that man spouts.
Exploration is considered by many players as the major failure in the game. Cryptic says they are working on it : we will see, but indeed many things were promised and just vanished.
Jack Emmert said in his last chat that Cryptic will implement diplomacy and / or minigames

Guest-1297: Do you plan to add non-combat gameplay elements in the game, like minigames or a diplomacy system ?
Jack-Cryptic: Yes.
He said it again in an interview by MMORPG website :

Many open beta players have complained that the missions are repetitive. Why is this, and is more variation planned in the near future?
STO Team:
We definitely have plans for more exploration and more diplomatic missions. Also more fleet actions will be included. There are a lot of things that we are looking to add in the game that gives it great variation and different styles of gameplay. One of the things people have been talking a lot about is more interaction on your ship, so that is one thing we're looking at now.
I'm now under the belief that exploration was rushed out like the Klingons due to the release date Atari set. There are a lot of things missing from the exploration system that had been mentioned before such as coordinate sharing. I'm hoping once Cryptic fleshes out the Klingons like was intended, they'll do the same for exploration missions.

Indeed. They obviously spent a lot of time on the textures / GFX of Genesis (more than 4 Gb, we downloaded them separately during close beta), so I really believe they wanted to do something good, but they didn't have the time. Now, there are many threads about exploration, asking for more, over and over, again and again. I hope they will understand that many players were really interested by this part of the game.

They had two years for this game. For a space mmo. For a Star Trek mmo. For a MMO in general, that's an absurdly short development cycle. What the hell was Atari thinking.
I believe there is a lot of content for us waiting behind the Deep Space barriers.
And I agree with another poster, the Genesis Engine most likely got pressed for a few instanceable systems and was then held off for a later date to meet Atari's outrageous deadline.
