If you have additional questions about the Legacy or Starter pack, please read this FAQ.
Thanks SO MUCH for all your support, and we'll see you in-game!
Also, How are these people getting into the game? they're obviously not buying a new copy everytime they get banned(if they even are getting banned). Trial accounts?
disable trials from China, korea, russia, etc.. until this nonsense can be slowed down..
it's possible they signed up for pre-orders and then didn't buy the game.. in which case, we'll see a marked drop-off in spam tomorrow.
and yeah... a filter would be really really nice and/or the ability to mark certain words as blacklisted.
I laugh ever time i think about how much money this stogold spammer is wasting on this game. Do you even need energy? I wasted 60k credits and bought a T3 Cruiser after getting an escort. I end up never using the cruiser and i still have 120k credits with a ton of stuff i havent vendored yet
**** was still the worst gold-spamming launch in my memory. The gold sellers there were the stuff of legends. Of course, **** also featured an unlimited ignore list, and a great little /anon command. I'd forget to turn it on when I first logged on, but the first spam tell I got would always remind me. This still doesn't do anything for general chat (in my experience, starbase is the worst, followed by sector space, after that it's not much of a problem) or for mail. I'd like to see a feature that allows you to refuse mail from all trial accounts. As for the chat problem, I don't think a filter will do much good. If you block anything with a URL in it, they'll just write the URL in a "creative" way to get around the feature. At this point, we need to see the GM's wielding a great big ban stick. If one needs to be set to do nothing but review spammer reports, then I'd say that that is worth it for a little while to improve the quality of the game. Heck, I'd volunteer to be an unpaid "spammer killer" for an hour or so every night.
We need a bigger ignore list since you guys are not actively banning gold sellers.
It's hard to follow any chat at the moment without banning numerous goldsellers first.
This needs to be edressed asap.
Indeed, at some point I'm going to have to start un-ignoring some gold sellers so that I can ignore some gold sellers.

When **** launched the ignore list was NOT infinite. there was no "/anon" command. I spent at least an hour every time I logged in clearing space on my ignore list, so I could ban the wave of 100 new spammers for that day.
**** was really terrible, I cancelled my account 15 days after retail launch, and i was in the beta. You couldn't tell it used to be a free game at all

Sorry, but you're just wrong on that account. There was an /anon command in place at launch. There may have been one during beta as well, but I honestly can't remember. As for the ignore list not being infinite, I ignored a fair number of people, and I never hit a limit. Now, I won't say that the limit wasn't something insane that I just didn't hit, but let's just say that if there was a limit it was not small.
For the rest, I see no reason to respond about whether **** was a good game or not since that really doesn't have any bearing on gold spamming and the curing thereof.
