Hello All,

I'm a bit confused about how or if I'm able to unlock all level 3 skills. I'm a Engneering Captian and I already maxed out Starship Beam Weapons, Starship Mines and Starship Torpedo Weapons and I have not seen any of the new training options that I should have unlocked. I'd also like to be able to teach Science Team III to my BO's has well but I'm not sure that I can. On a side note: Does the skill Science Team II exist and has anyone seen a Quantom Torpedo level higher than Mk3?

Thanks for your time

First you and your BO's need to be a certain rank. For the level 3 skills they need to be commanders and have a station which will use commander skills. If you're not sure it's the 4 skill in the assignments area of your ship.

To train them go to your toon's status (same area you train skills in) and at the bottom there will be a button that says train ( or something like that)

I've also come across this issue. Max levels in Cannons is supposed to let you train Rapid Fire III to a bridge officer. The only ones I've seen work so far are engineering skills.

I remember someone saying that you can only teach skills in your area of expertise. i.e. you can teach high yield torpedo III only if your are a tactical officer etc...

if it is a commander skill, it will be accessible only to a specific class of ship (with a commander spot of the skill class (cruiser for engineering, escort for tactical, or science for science))

That would suck if it's really the case......

Eng/Esc here who maxed Cannons thinking I can train someone in C:RF3.

My Lieutenant Commander engineer bridge officer and his Engineering Team III disagree

Basically you need to have the relevent skill maxed on your skills and be the relevent class (engineers can teach lvl3 engineer skills, tactical lvl3 tactical skills etc). Afaik there's no level requirement on the BOs, but the level 3 skill will require one rank higher then the level 2 skill to use

Another way to get level three skills if you aren't the right class to teach it would be to get a rare BO with the skill and have them teach it to your BO you want to have it. Haven't really understood what the rare BOs are good for yet since I'm not too clear on how they are different from the regular ones but I've seen this posted elsewhere.

Now, there's supposed to be a way to trade bridge officers, and train them in skills you can train, then trade them back to others. That would allow people to get their officers trained in skills they want, but can't otherwise get.

I don't believe this (the Trading and Training of other's officers) is in-play yet.

If it is, how about someone let us know how to do it.

That can't be right.

If so, that would mean Engineers & Science officers each get one skill they can train their Bridge Officers to III while Tactical Officers get 5 ?

Engineering / Technician train Engineering Team III.
Science / Scientist train Science Team III

and

Tactical / Starship Beam Weapons train Fire at will III
Tactical / Starship Cannon Weapons train Rapid Fire III
Tactical / Starship Mines train Dispersal Pattern Alpha III
Tactical / Starship Torpedo Weapons train High Yield III
Tactical / Security train Tactical Team III

The Starship abilities (which the OP is asking about) are probably trainable to non-Tactical captains in some way other than getting friends to train them for you...

You're missing quite a few abilities there.

For science captains there are the 9 abilities unlocked by the T3-T5 operations skills.
For engineering captains there are 4 abilities from the efficiency skills and 3 from the performance skills.
For tactical captains there are also the 2 abilities unlocked by Heavy Escort Captain and Tactical Escort Captain.

So including the ones you listed that's a total of 10 science-only, 8 engineering-only, and 7 tactical-only abilities as far as what you can train. All of those and a few more abilities can be found on rare bridge officers though, so it's not a hard limit based on your captain, it just might take you some searching to find an officer with the ability you want.
