This is why "deathmatch" is the lowest form of PvP.
Cryptic needs to get a game designer who isn't mentally stuck in 1996 to work on their game for them. It's 2010. Time to start making some more advanced games. Tribes 1 had something like 5 different objective based games back in, what, 1998? In those games, if one team ran into a corner a hid, they lost -- quickly.
I do agree matches need a timer, but it needs to be thought through a bit. And I'll explain why. If you allow a draw as you suggest for not reaching the goals you then open up another dilemma. If a Klingon team is losing and doesn't want to, they can simply stay cloaked to avoid giving the feds a win. Now obviously not every Klingon will do this as I have fought some good battles with some great klingons, but the if the possibility to use it is there some people will.
Me, I love the PvP, but it has some elements that really needs some work. One thing that might work is add a timer, but base the reward on participation.Winning gives a bonus but without participation you get very little. It's a tricky set of mechanics, but the PvP does need some work.
theres a reason why there isnt timer in the game good pvp matchs arnt over in 15 min
if you have to premade teams that ACTUALLY KNOW HOW TO PLAY(the caps part being important) in any teir the game can last a long time
in t2 kligons are forced to a hit an run so if the kligons are using 5 bop one would assume its t2 so what the kligons did sounds more than resonable factoring in an exageration on op part at the delays between attacks if there wasnt exageration then why did you sticj around?
now in t3 and on when you have kligon cruiser that are healing eachother and there team mates the game times go way up
and then we look all the way up to t5 2 premade teams that know what there doing
the average attack per palyer can get up in the neighborhood of 500k and avg healer per player 400k in such situations the game just atkes a while even with kligons never cloaking(carrier) which is why there is no timer
secondly i know you havnt thought this though ok 15 min timer gets put in

kligons loose is mad all cloak up everyone looses
end of the timer both wins
kligons shoot at you for a min then go afk
as you can see they can all be exploited thus if some ones greif you and taking all your time us the leave button
now as for the cloak
theres this mystical ship called a sci ship
by getting decent gear and puting sp in to sensors then acutaly having your power in auxilary wammo you can see cloaked kligons at 8km in t2 and further in higher teirs i know it means doing less dmg but your a sci ship not an escort
I dont get you guyz, for the sake of balance and to prevent these long tedious matches, there shouldnt be a timer on the match itself, but instead ON THE CLOAK of Klingons.
Why not make it that when a Klingon, when he cloaks, he gets a random time between 2 or 3 minutes to position himself and to attack before his stealth runs out.
Prevent long tedious waits.
Grant the playstyle more of a fight or flee situation for the klingons.
Faster and more FUN PvP since the timer isnt exact every time you cloak, could be 2 mins 2 secs or 2 mins and 58 secs.
PS: Imo, 2-3 mins stealth/batttlestealth is enough to either postion yourself or flee to a safe distance from the fight as intended. But if i really had a say, id would for for a timer between 2-3 mins for 'normal stealth' and 1-2 mins for battlestealth.
