Engineer Team repairs hull.. Science Team gives shields... but what does Tactical Team do? Does it replaced lost crew members that die during ship combat?

Tactical Team raises your stats in energy weapon and projectile weapon proficiency.


In essence ALL your energy weapons AND ALL your projectile weapons will do increased damage.


No matter the specific type.

the dmg increse is extreamly low.
they mainly counter boarding teams.

Actually it also does replace lost crew members too.. I was down to 0/50 crew (all grey, no orange/wounded) members after taking a few nasty torpedo hits.. I used tactical team and I regained some of my crew instantly.

This is true, Tactical Team adds able crewmen to your ship. It also removes "tactical debuffs," which I take to mean things like Attack Pattern Beta and Fire on my Mark.

It's worth pointing out that the increase in damage is more relevent the more guns you use, not how good those guns are. I'm fairly confident the best use of this ability is to assist tanks in keeping aggro since it automatically targets to the target of targets.

It's also worth pointing out that points spent on skills that improve Tactical Team don't affect the part of it that increases your damage. They may increase the able crewman bonus or its ability to stop boarding parties, but those aren't numerical values, so it's difficult to confirm. It's probably not worth deliberately going out of your way to increase the effectiveness of this ability with skill points. That said, higher ranks of Tactical Team should have larger bonuses to energy weapons and projectiles. I haven't seen how much higher, though.

meh, there really isnt much else to slot in t1 slots if your an escort, so you end up running it regardless.

The only reason I see to increase the tactical team leader skill is if your captain is a tac officer, as this boosts several of the tactical captain abilities, for example, attack pattern alpha's percentage damage increase modifiers go up. However if you are a science or engineering captain I'd say this skill is useless.

The damage increase gained from using a tactical team isn't typically significant enough to merit the global cooldown it incurs on your other crew abilities (specificially engineering team and science team). The only time I ever used tactical team was for maximizing my burst damage when the crystalline entity was a 20 second battle that gave the blue item to which ever tac captain blew all their self buffs and bashed the spacebar like a jackrabbit on crystal meth. Of course now the cystalline entity coughs up a blue to whoever correctly times the full impulse -> evasive maneuvers -> ramming speed combo properly lol.
