You people do realize that the ship you give to your name is the official name registered on the hull? The -X suffixed do NOT go on the ship name, but on the ship registry number. So it's "U.S.S Whatever, NCC-YYYYYY-X".
Take a close look at the hull of the Enterprise-D and see if it's written USS Enterprise-D.
You give me 1500 merits per old ship I have to rename and I won't tack -A, -B, etc on the end of my new ships.
I understand the OP's complaint, but no one can see the registry to tell you're in the "U.S.S. Randomname NCC-1337-B" unless they are REALLY close. Which is why I name my ships "Nighthawk-A, B, C, etc".
Being a Trek fan, I understand what you are saying. However, in Star Trek ships are commonly referred to as the Enterprise-A, the Enterprise-D, etc., and both verbally and in print in official sources.
Enterprise-D is a refit, you cant get refits in STO
doesent matter what HULL you use of a class, its still the exact same ship.
OP should have said, "To those who care about canon..." and "for those who don't, don't worry about it, no biggie." Of course, I'm kinda glad he said something, because I was trying to be legit, and I was off a little. I admit that I enjoy immersing myself in the ST universe, and recognize not everyone does. Regardless, [I suggest, without obligation] have fun and don't worry about it enough to be upset.
have you tried this at all? i have, it doesnt work, you cant have 2 ships with the same even with different registrys, at least by my experience with the game
You can't have two ships with the same name as ACTIVE SHIPS. You need to decommission one of them to keep the name. Why is that? Well, the Enterprise was destroyed before we had the Enterprise A, the A was decommissioned before the B was made, it's safe to assume the B would be decommissioned before the C, the C was destroyed before the Galaxy class was even designed, and Riker's command incompetence destroyed the D before the E was built.
At no point were there two ships with the same name at the same time.
My engineer was flying the U.S.S. Sargeras A, then B, then C etc. When I opted to purchase the Galaxy-X I chose to name it Sargeras-X instead of G or w/e. Personally it's my choice, and I'll thank you to stop trying to tell me how to play the game.
Zombies are one of my least favorite species of the Galaxy. I must destroy this one and remind you Humans to open a new thread if you need to post on a topic that has not seen the light of day in over 30 days.
