A bug that involved Romulan Liberated Borg captains and their skills once they chose an ally
If anyone is not yet aware the "dps" people of other mmo's have already started complaining about how cruisers don't have taunt abilities. While I am okay with some aggro control through taunts this is a space combat game, kind of 2d space combat game but space combat none the less. Please don;t let them talk you into giving our cruisers massive AOE aggro I don't want consecration in space. You gave 4 different areas on our ships with shields please make us use them. Dps player try to avoid death should be a result of some tanking skills, some aggro management and some maneuvering ability.
I dont see any need for a Taunt ability bit I think it would be beneficial for the squishy types (escorts and possibly science vessels) to have a way to escape attack so the enemies more frequently focus on the cruisers.
Even as it is now, if you do it right you can keep most of the agro on a cruiser.
I know what it is suppose to do, but it doesn't unless you're solo. So whats the point?
THAT is the billion dollar question. When more than one class can do the same job, classes begin to lose their individuality and uniqueness. And when that happens, then such classes become clones of each other and gameplay becomes mediocre. Choice is good, but every choice has to have qualities that set it apart from the others. Otherwise, there actually isn't any choice at all. Its nothing but an illusion, and a transparent one at that. My only hope is that the devs realise that there are reasons why each class has a specific role to play and that each class needs to retain uniqueness both in its role and its abilities when performing that role.
However, having read the OP again, I'm wondering if they are actually asking for specific abillities which allows the cruiser captain to micro-manage aggro as opposed to a general "instant 100% aggro" button
I just had a mental image of a WoW pally sitting in front of a Klingon fleet spamming AoE and bubbling..
Also If i was an npc i wouldent attack a cruiser either, I mean..the Galaxy Class has a big..yeah..
Edit: on a side note, they could give cruiser captains a 'draw fire' ability kinda like the ground based one. I honestly think this game has no aggro managment in place at all. Npcs seem fickle in their targets.
