There suposed to be the "healer class"

Anything you say I will answer with...

"There is no death penalty" ....nothing...at all you are not needed, get an escort be useful, be a engineer drop an extra turret.

Infact the game promotes dieing ....look at Ramming speed or self destruct lol.

Science in STO = fail.

Its true
(love the game though) ....mostly
They arnt SUPPOSED to be the healing class they are the MOST versitle ships! and Science officer kinda sucks except there admiral skill is amazing *drools*

Science Ships Can do the following...

-be healers
-be mega nasty debuffers/screw you over (Viral Matrix 3 / Tykens Rift 3 )
-Be crowd control persay sensor jam and whatever the other skill is called
-Be Mega high DPS (feedback pulse / photonic shockwave / Grav Well 3)
-Be Uber tanks due to highest shields than just stack sci/engineer team rotate shield rev polarity emergency power to shields miricale worker *worker if your a engi admiral)

And overall I hear klingons complain the most about us science vessels we most be doing something right and in PvP i typically am top DPS or near top consistently

EDOT: Forgot to mention the admiral skill sci officers get is Photonic Fleet

I dont know about taking no damage but close, minor shield loss, but since i can jam the target for about as long as it takes for him to die its not an issue.

Yeah. That's the good thing about science. Scramble Sensor 3 and Jam Targetting Sensors 3.

They said the same thing about Cornelius and Zira

Cornelius: [reading from the sacred scrolls of the apes] Beware the beast Man, for he is the Devil's pawn. Alone among God's primates, he kills for sport or lust or greed. Yea, he will murder his brother to possess his brother's land. Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours. Shun him; drive him back into his jungle lair, for he is the harbinger of death.

Dodge: The question is not so much where we are as when we are.

science is the 'mess with stuff in a high tech way' So they are more of the buffer/debuffer class.

I cant even fathom how many times a problem in star trek has been solved by shooting tachyon partials at it
This is the correct answer. There's some incorrect perception about the science officers flying around that makes everything think they're the healers. On the ground this may be true, but in space any heals science has engineering has better.

If you rolled a science officer to play the healer ship you're doing it wrong.

haha wow.

in DSE I can full impulse into the middle of a fleet of 10+ and kill them all solo in about 40-60seconds.

different build I can scramble a enemy group indefinately. another build I can viral someone and lock them down forever.

tell me when you can solo the end of the klingon fleet action or the cubes/spheres of the borg resource map.
