I believe you were trying to login while the account server was down, please try again. If problems persist, please contact customer service.

SimplÍ ;-)
You forgot another important one:

- Always assume lower case is not the same as upper case letters (case sensitive)

Ok, I don't accept "complexity" as an excuse for bugs. I have worked as a software developer for several years, and I've worked on projects even more complex than ST:O (I can't mention the specific names, but it was at IBM).

The problem is "budget". This is a very cheap game (the software I worked on used to sell for about US$800K each copy, plus support contract).

So ST:O is a CHEAP product, we all can afford easily. People who smoke spend more on cigarrets than on the subscription.

For the amount we are paying, we are getting a damn good product, and the response time is very good. I was reporting 5-10 bugs/day back on the beta, and almost all have been fixed already.

Yes, we could have a mostly bug free product, if we were all willing to buy it for US$1000 and pay US$200/month subscription. I'm sure Cryptic would be happy with it too.

Hehe, don't tell people about the typical costs for support contracts for software... those with response times of a day or two... or maybe you should and there would be a little more silence if their tickets aren't answered within a few weeks.

We all agreed to it, but whether you actually read it or not... well, most people probably just click the "Engage" button for more pew pew and less legal crap :p

Yes, I did read it and yes, I know full and well that there are no guarantees in life except death and taxes. Having that language is required to protect anybody from unreasonable requests or situations out of their control.

However - we're paying for an entertainment service, not a trip to the casino. There's an OBVIOUS expectation that the product will perform as advertised by both the producer and the consumer.

That being said, I would like to apologize to Cryptic and the Forum Members for my statements borne of frustration. I know that there are lots of people working their tails off to get it working correctly and I know how frustrating that can be.

Mea culpa.

Ive been playing since Head Start but I haven't been able to login for days. After the login screen I get a screen that says Connecting to Account Server. Then after a few moments it says that the account server timed out and I'm dropped back to the login screen. I tried re-entering both my retail and preorder keys (they were both already in use), I've re-entered my cc info, and I evenI cancelled and reactivated my account. None of this has changed anything.

Can anyone tell me why this happened. I went to buy a prepaid cc because i dont have a cc so I could play. But when I put it in it wont let me. So I go check to see if it is activated and when I look cryptic has charged me a dollar every time I try to put it in they better either give me my money back or give me my time I tried to order.

1) You just necroposted a thread that had nothing to do with the issue. Next time please post in the billing support forum

2) That being said, like all MMOs a 1$ holding charge was used to authenticate your billing information. It is automatically refunded to you.

If you are having further issues you can post in the billing support forum where a CS Rep from cryptic can look up your transaction details and get you an answer. I don't think they check the announcements forum routinely.
