The difficulty is far too easy, I've stopped using my Defiant and switched to a Galaxy for the moment to see if that would make a difference but to be honest it really doesn't. You end up winning all the same, Sure you give out less DPS but you take literally no hull damage at all.
Sigh....Yet again that point that I try to make gets lost............NOT EVERYONE HAS THE SAME EXPERIENCE..........not everyone plays the same. Not everyone uses the same gear, or has the same Boff skills.

Read what you wrote there.

I play sci/sci but I'm equipped like an escort with dual beams and lots of lock down. Is there a pattern are science that try to broadside haveing a hard time? I know it can't be cruisers that broad side cuase those guys rave about how uber unstoppable their ships are (while also complaining about needing to turn around to pick up drops)

Is it cruisers or science that are specced for healing/support that are having a hard time?

I was actually talking to a guildy (fleety?) of mine yesterday about this very same topic.

I find the game too easy, she finds the game too hard. I tend to try and run a series of "classes" so to speak, to help some folks learn how to actually live in a fight.

Here is how the begining of this specific "event" went....

User "Z" (the student) wants to get to the objective faster (and rightly so) so, they hit full impulse, zoom right up to the enemy.

Z then comes to a sudden stop. completely halting all movement, and begins to return fire on the nearest ship. I will note at this point for those who would understand, the range was good.

Z proceeds to unleash everything at her disposal into the enemy mob. dropping its forward shield, and damaging a good percentage of its hull.

The enemy mob flies over, and around Z, hammering her forward shield to bits and then begins to work on her rear shield.

Z attempts to continue the fight, but now is only using her rear facing weapon (torpedo), trying to get the newly facing stronger shield down, on the enemy.

Z's rear shield goes down. The other mobs in teh group are now encroaching on Z's forward shield, and its nto long before it too, is down.

Z explodes in a firely ball of kasploosh a few moments later.

What did Z do wrong..... ?

I've actually seen this happen on more than on occasion. with a few different ppeople.
I am curious as to where people are getting the information that they MUST come to a complete stop and do absolutely NO moving while they are fighting. Ive gone through the tutorial and read every single letter (i started in CB so, the tutorial wasnt initiall the way it is now, needed to make sure). Ive loaded in and out of sol system for an hour straight, trying to look at all of the tips, hints, etc. Trying to find one single place where someone would have gotten the misconception that they must come to a complete stop to fight. I can find nothing. I even asked "Z" herself and her answer was "i thought if we moved while we were fighting, it would take away from our power".

If anyone would please be able to shed some light on where the no0bies are getting the idea that they "must come to a full and complete stop" in order to fight, i woudl greatly appreciate it.

Ill report it as a friggin bug from hell. im tired of these "this is too hard" threads.

It could be that. The point that I was trying to make is everyone plays the game differently. I know I do not have an uber build....my choice, I pick skills and gear that I find fun. I have never been fond of the whole there is one correct build....everything else is crap. I like lots of options.

It does seem likely that in picking those "fun" skills some people are unknowingly gimping themselves. Support classes in most MMO's are fairly weak solo in PVE, unless the player really knows what they are doing. It is possible people see "Science-Engineering" as support, build them that way then wonder why they have such a tough time. It might just be that a lot of people lack the manual dexterity to stay on the weak side of an enemy, while at the same time managing all their Boff skills. Not knowing about the proper use of the power settings could be a big reason too.....there are a lot of variables.

Xeex,
Seriously... um wow it never would have occurred to me that some people would do that. Thanks for shedding some light. PS I've read some of your other posts on various topics and I tend to disagree with most of what I've read but thanks so much for posting that. I'm saying this not to flame you but to compliment you on pointing this out!

If you're haveing trouble in the game don't do what student z just did! Sure drop down to 25% impulse if it will help you stay behind a target or 0% impulse ONLY if you've got your target tractored while they face away from you. Try dropping out of FI at around 14-16 km to give time for power levels to come back up.

So far in this thread I've heard alot of people say the game isn't hard and point out what makes the game tough for others. Anyone from the "its to hard" camp want to chime in?

watch that
This video is quintessential escort, taking the warbird from most of its shields and hull to nothing in a few seconds, while taking some damage itself. Warbirds have a hard time getting to my science ship's hull (in fact, they only do if I get lazy or screw up) and of course I take 2-3 times as long to kill one. Nice vid, mate.

Sometimes I wonder if some of the "too hard" posters just get nervous when they see red (or no) shield and start hearing, "Hull integrity below 75%." and don't like the feeling.

@Sresk: nice try with this post. However, I doubt if too many "It's too hard"ers will post their issues here; too much chance they will be told how to overcome their difficulties. Some people don't want to change. And advice on how to play, even delivered with the best of intentions, may sound like "learn to play" to some.

My general theory is some guy joins a party. Guy forgets to leave a party. Partymembers afk somewhere. oh I have to rescue ss azura OHWHATTHE 1 battleship 7 corvettes. *kills them after 20 deaths* OH WHATTHE REINFORCEMENTS ANOTHER 1 battleship 7 corvettes. *kills them after 20 deaths* OH WHATTHE REINFORCEMENTS ANOTHER 1 battleship 7 corvettes.

I made a new character and some newbie and his friend added me to party just to chat over partychat, they went were doing different things (one doing delta volanis, one doing ss azura) and were both getting wtfpwned while having no idea of why there's so many npc ships.

Oh and that is a real example. Normal azura solo spawns what, 3 orion corvettes? Do it in a party of 3, 6-7 orion corvettes + 1 battleship, and then 2 same wave of reinforcements warp on when you kill the first group.
