Then question . . . If a person can AFK win, why is it I'm unable to do it?

After all, it takes zero skill. That should make it impossible to fail. Yet I still have to try to win. At the very least, I have to balance my shields. I could probably take a tier 2 without BO abilities, but I'd still be broadsiding and then turning to fire a torpedo, then broadsiding and turning to fire a torpedo. Easy enough, but it still takes control. It's not difficult by any means, I've never been threatened, but that's because I actually try. The High Yield strikes are enough to almost collapse one shield entirely. That means four more torpedos and you're pretty much toast, or close to it. Phasers can't kill the enemy faster than they can drop one shield and torpedo you to death, not on higher tier ships at least.

So you tell me, if you can AFK win, why can't I do it? It takes no skill after all. So you explain that to me. Are we playing a different game or something? Explain it for me.

Unless the Galaxy has about ten times the power at tier 4 than my ship has at tier 2, I'm not seeing it. Yet there are claims it can be done at every level from tier 1 on up. So I should be able to do it with my two phaser banks.

After I make a video we can analyse this properly, for now I'm too tired I just got up a lil while ago and it's 7:15am I need breakfast lol.

I'll make 5 videos today,

1, Escort play general stuff
2, AFK Cruiser
3, General Cruiser
4, AFK Ground Combat
5, Deep Space Encounters

Depending on upload speeds ect and time cause of RL commitments we shall see but I'll have at least one done tonight

Funny thing is I've been trying to train one of my cats to press space bar so I could get my Cat to do STO combat and beat the game but Alas they don't seem to enjoy it enough, Maybe mark can get his dog to do it lol.

Otherwise I'll buy one of those things Homer simpson had the drinking birds, See if I can win with that lol

Well I believe you can AFK win ground combat. Your away team can take out everyone. On fact, one time I aggroed too many at once and got my ass handed to me, but my team was still alive and well. My team took out the entire enemy team, then the doctor revived me. I was literally out of combat the whole time. So that one I do believe.

Then again, I actually like that aspect, that my away team doesn't NEED me to win, that they can actually do things on their own and save me on occasion. I think that's a neat aspect of the game, even if it does make ground combat really easy (the only time it's hard is if you accidentally pull multiple groups because of stray away team members, which is the only times I've lost and had to respawn.

I still have had to try against tier 2 and tier 3 ships when solo. I have to at least balance my shields to not get eaten by their high yield shots.

Right what I did was record an entire episode with all the ground combat played Afk and the space combat as normal in my escort at Captain level so you can see where i'm coming from, It's been added to the videos here :

Maybe because you suck and don't know how to play the game?

Did you ever consider that this problem here is YOU and your own lack of skill rather than the GAME being too hard?

I have yet to see a post from you where you are honestly asking for help rather than just bi***ing the game is too hard. OH right, you can't ask for help because YOUR not the problem.. obviously the game is too hard

@sresk

I commend your attempt to understand why people are finding the game too hard. However I think it's doomed to failure. I seem to remember a couple of threads like this during OB, where some of us who weren't haveing difficulty were offering to explain what others were doing wrong and offer help. There were a couple of people who told us how they were doing stuff, we offered advice, and they came back with "Hey I tried that, it's easier!" Unfortunetly, the vast majority were simply "No this game is too hard it needs to be made easier." No explanation of what they were doing, refusing to answer when asked how they were playing, etc. It was always STO's fault for being too hard... never the player's fault. And some times it was even simple things like not using the keyboard for shield reinforcement, or not understanding how the camera works. But no... those are problems with STO.. not the players.

Maybe it's your attitude? People might not care to be told such things as in your first sentence. People might not particularly care to be told they are doing things wrong, and "learn to play" might be perceived as derogatory.

I also commend Sresk for his intent, but imo your post is not helping.

Oh, so obviously if they don't want to be told it's their tactics that are the problem then we should just nerf the game eh?

Neither are 99% of the other posts of people attempting to help.

If someone askes for help, I'll help them. Most are more content to complain instead. Like I said, in OB there were some of us trying to help. However, apparently even suggesting the game wasn't the issue made us all "elitist hard core gamers." You can't help someone that doesn't want to help themselves.

Users like DreamGoddessLindsey (sorry to single you out, you're not the only one though) are content to complain complain and complain without offering solutions or even attempting to accept offered help from the community. And as we've seen, Cryptic is far more apt to listen to the Hello Kitty Online crowed than they are to other people. So yes, my attitude is GOING to be slightly hostile to this group of people because they haver serious potential to kill this game.
