And it always has been we just missed it. See this post. All you need to do is add a few extra people to you're party and then go do missions solo. The more people in the party the tougher the mission will be, so we have difficulty solo - 5 now! Post results also I haven't tested grouping with a higher level player yet would love to hear results of that!

A cumbersome sloppy method requiring far more involvement than should be required. No doubt, difficulty adjustment would take that form on the play side as well, of more ships, then more stronger ships, but I would prefer the enemy ships to increase firepower so the combat duration is the same but nearness of death closer.

...so what happens if you actually want to team up with people?

I'm not interested in fighting several weak opponents. I don't want to face multiple ships and have my demise be a matter of enemy numbers making me lose by attrition.

The January 8th 2010 patch had vessels pose much more of a threat. Meeting a single same-level NPC escort represented a threat that was likely to mean your demise unless you were at the top of your game. A duo of birds of prey ambushing you at the beginning of the early Deep Space Encounters was a shield-pounding, very hairy situation.

Now, both are a cakewalk. And I don't mean that in a good way.

And what if you want it to be easier when you're solo/in a group?

What they need is a difficulty slider that the player is able to adjust for themselves.
If I remember right, city of heroes and maybe villains had this feature.

Let the player set an option from low to max with settings in between, the higher the difficulty setting the more ships the person would get, get battleships that roam in groups instead of the solo battleship, and ships that in general hit harder and use more abilities.

If your in a group, then the slider maybe should get an auto bump for two levels higher than where it is set.

Also would like to see this for ground combat, as the ground combat is still much easier than the space combat.

Skill points and so on of course would be scaled to the encounter, and the final mission reward based on the level of difficulty you had the mission set for.

Nono...this strategy works very well

Not only, you would get highet numbers to kill... the enmy ships are tougher, have much more firepower, are much harder to kill and give you a much harder time to survive!!

This works really pretty well!!

The only problem is actually, finding some people, who are willing to hinder their path to Admiral for no better reward!!
Cuz, surely, you are killing more ships and therefore gets some more loot... but this loot isnt better abnd the msision reward is naturally the same in regard of both, skillpoints and items

So, many people are just wanting to reach Admiral as fast as possible (why? NO endcontent) and dont want to act like this...

Here is my offer:

EVERYONE who wanna do like this, could tell me ingame (same Nick: Max Magic@Max Magic) and i will group with those^^

Lets have fun again

My fault for not being more clear.

I like teaming. I also find the game too easy currently. Unfortunately, as it stands now, it's easier for a group of 5 ships to take on a spawn made for 5 than it is for a single ship to take on a singleton spawn - which, in my weird little world, makes teaming even more boring than running solo (outside of DSEs, FAs, and PvP anyway).

So the OP's suggestion doesn't help me at all.

However, a difficulty slider would. Given that Cryptic had such a thing for City of Heroes/Villains, and given that it actually worked pretty well there, I'm really surprised that it's not in either Champions Online or STO.
