I'm having a ton o' fun with the game so far, here is yet another suggestion:

When the traffic control, planet or any other comm dialog box opens up, you can see the individual components of the NPC pop up. It's quite immersion breaking. My suggestion to fix this would be a LCARS-like placeholder image, then render the NPC in the background and remove the placeholder.

You can actually see this many of the episodes when one of the officers takes a video call in the ready room,etc. There is a generic image on the wall with a starfleet logo, or lcars styled info date, time etc, they push a button and then take the call.
