# 1 Rocking The T1, Dreading T2
02-12-2010, 12:36 PM
So I gave in and worked on a Klingon-side character for a bit. The easiest way to do that is, of course, via PvP and so it was that I thrust myself into PvP for a short while. I engaged the Federation and found it a tad okay, not really exciting and my overall BOFF setup was the generic starting one.

It was then that I noticed a distinct lack of defense in the overall setup of BoPs, and it got me thinking...I had universal slots didn't I?

Currently my Tier1 Level 8 Bird of Prey is set up:
1 Dual Heavy Cannon, 1 Dual Phaser Bank, 1 Phaser Turret(All mark two greens)
Engineering Team
Hazard Emitters
Emergency Power to Shields

I also have Rotate Shield Frequency and Emergency Maneuvers.

I have won 3v1 situations..not often, not always, but once I did. I was all "OH GOD YES I ROCKED YOU HARD" and I made sure the Feds knew it too via Zone

But what I'm dreading is what's going to happen in Tier2...right now I am completely obliterating the Feds that I fight, I outlast them and out maneuver them, so I always win in the end. I don't kill them too fast, but I always kill them in one on one situations. I'm constantly finishing matches with 8-1 k:d and top of the board in damage and healing. I also heal my teammates that I see are getting targetted, making ignoring me in a fight all but impossible...

But in Tier2 is this even going to work out, or am I going to get thrashed so hard that I'm going to cry?

In t1 the kdf have a moderate baseline advantage which increases the more kdf can catch feds solo.

Also, while you're a new kdf - these feds can be anything from people who can't find their butts with either hand to people rerolling characters.

Due to the wide disparity in skill levels, you really can't draw any conclusions from this outcome.

In t2, feds who work together have somewhat of an advantage, however that is not entirely common.

What will probably be most a shock to you when you reach Tier 2 is that your ship is no longer going to be as durable as you seem used to. The Federation players who want to tank will be rolling around in Cruisers while you'll still be stuck in what is essentially an Escort. While you can try to take all self-preservation powers and attempt to weather enemy fire, at Tier 2 this is in my opinion really a losing proposition, and your best damage mitigation will be in the form of offense.

If you can tough that out and make it to Tier 3, you'll love the K't'inga, though.

T2 is fine for me, but lets call me a veteran. Since I did T1-T5 on fed. I can get away easily from feds, EPS console + evasive + battle cloak at 12km

T1 is grossly biased in favour of KDF, the BOP and so far apart it is silly; manoeuvrability, stealth, the ability to use any combination of BO's.

I've just finished T1 as KDF and found it utterly boring due to zero challenge.

My first couple of matches in T2 have been very different, my new BOP does awesome damage but is a true glass cannon, this makes it a challenge and I'm enjoying it so far.
