A bug that involved Romulan Liberated Borg captains and their skills once they chose an ally
If they ever introduced saucer separation for things like the Galaxy and Monarch, the most sensible thing to do would probably be something where you separate the ship, and pick which half you're taking charge of. Saucer section, you turn into a science ship for all intents and purposes and the engineering section warps off to do it's own thing, Engineering section and you become essentially an escort while the saucer warps off to safety.

As an interesting aside... I remember seeing in one of the videos Cryptic released a separated galaxy class. You could clearly see the stardrive section without a saucer, and a saucer nearby. So it appears that at least at some point in the development, ship separation was in the game.
Or it was a bug where in the saucer was not visible. The beams the stardrive was shooting were coming of the starboard and port emitters on the invisible saucer.

If I'm not mistaken, the saucer solo could achieve warp 1. I have this hung in my head from the Q episode with the Borg. If you'll remember, they separated at a very high warp speed. If the saucer didn't have a deflector field it would have been shredded instantly by the velocity.
I'm all for MVAM, just make it a BO power for tactical/Engineering in the 4th slot...simply an alternate remake of the photonic fleet. It's already possible to alter a model on the fly as proven by the ship damage.
Multi-Vector Assault Mode was a feature of the Promethius class of ship as shown on Voyager. The ship could separate into 3 separate sections that would then attack their target.
I think it's pretty unlikely we'll see this in-game.
when at the shipyard i took a look at the admiral level escorts and it said MVAM was removed from the prometheus class becasue it was buggy and prone to failure and damage.

But I also saw the saucer section flying with a separate shield ring nearby. Check out this video around the 2:55 mark, you'll see a galaxy stardrive flying around, and off to the side the saucer section flying as a separate ship.

and if you look at the HD version in fullscreen you can clearly tell both ships have a different name... if they were part of the same ship they would be named the ssame wouldnt they? and i believe a dev had also commented on the fact that that was a glitch.
The saucer sep on a Galaxy would be useless anyway. Its more of an escape mechanic than a "woohoo, split our forces and fight" mechanic.
Main Phaser energy is shunted through the warp drive for added power. The main phaser arrays are located on the saucer. Phaser array strips work together by adding the sum of their emitters segments.
So, in essence, you'd have a stardrive section without a large phaser to power, and a saucer section with a large phaser but not much juice to power it.
I could see it being a cool replacement for "abandon ship" allowing the using to fight just a bit longer in a saucer section. But I wouldn't expect to go toe to toe with any complete ships as a saucer.
