Just ran a Crystalline Elite to see at which point it became unplayable for me...

7 FPS started feeling sluggish.
6 FPS was getting painful.
5 FPS was omgherdWTF.
3-4 FPS was brutal (I had to add a bunch of stuff to get it to drop that low, though).

Usual play with all the stuff being dropped out on the Entity was 8-14 and it was fine.

It's going to depend on what you're used to...I've been doing less than 30 FPS for well over 30 years with games, TV, and movies; my eyes don't think anything of it until it starts getting really low.

Somebody that's grown accustomed to higher FPS or only known it - it's going to get fugly for them pretty fast.

Thing is under 40fps the UI gets really unresponsive .Frame rate doesnt matter that much ,but you really need a smooth UI especially in pvp .

You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about whatsoever.

The engine may be the same on the most basic level, but as time goes by and with every single patch more and more code gets added and changed, modifications are made to increase the graphics power, new meshes and new models are added.

MMO's may not change their base engine very often but they do add to it which makes the whole game heavier on system usage period.

The Cryptic UI is EXTREMELY poorly designed. Any and all bits of UI and especially text eat CPU cycles (and in the end, framerate) by a ton.

Sadly, this has been a problem since Day 1 of three of Cryptic's titles and there's absolutely nothing that can be done about it on the player's end of things.
"Let's make our DOff UI bigger, clumsier to use, impossible to sort, AND have it show less information in a useable method than we did before!" - Cryptic with STO's 9.5 'crafting upgrade'.

What were you thinking, Cryptic? Seriously. I want to know.
