7 Crafting School = 7 Specialists

We have no data as to how rare these will drop, I'm assuming the rarity of getting a very rare specialist will be similar to getting a very rare Romulan Borg doff from a Survivor Pack. These officers run around 10-35 million energy credits, so lets say these new specialists will have a similar drop rate and cost about this much (lets be generous and say 20 million ec)

7 Very Rare Specialists = 140 Million EC (20 Million per doff)*
*KDF Versions of these doffs will likely be much more expensive

Master Keys are going for about 2.85mil EC, Keys cost 120 Zen. So you will need 50 Keys to purchase all these doffs if you don't have the EC for them already:

50 Keys = 6,000 Zen = $60

This is all assuming you want the Very Rare quality Federation R&D Specialists, and you don't want to gamble with duty officer packs. This is with very very generous exchange pricing, start saving!
Wait, what? You need a specific Doff for EACH UNIQUE ITEM? And I'll have to get them through doff pack roulette? I may have to just pass on this system if that's the case.

Alternatively, maybe it's not his name, and the Ferrengi just either doesn't actually know, doesn't care to remember, or simply can't pronounce, and just refers to him by the thing he is famous for. After all, the Ferrengi wouldn't know about the backstory behind "Aegis", either. Maybe he thinks that's the guy's name.

So for a common doff we have huge spikes in the Exchange prices of Mineral Samples, Radiation Samples, and Alien Artifacts. Terrific.

I think the worst part of this is that no preexisting doffs are being given this school specialization. They're adding new doffs to C-Store packs that people have already purchased and opened, so now you'll have to go back and get more of the same packs you just opened say a week ago to have the chance of getting these doffs. This is obviously how they're making up for lowering the dilithium cost of crafting, if you want the crafting exclusive items sorry you need the ultra rare doff you can only get in C-Store packs or the timegated 1000 dilithium assignment with the likelihood of not getting a doff at all. At the very least some preexisting doffs should be given the specialization, like the Romulan borg doffs, Bynars, Vorta, Jem'hadar, Tosks, Xindi and other doffs that are already rare drops in these existing packs.

Will these new doffs drop from Asylum assignments?

I highly doubt it, they stated in patch notes that the only two methods were C-Store doff packs and the 1000 dilithium assignment you can only run every 2 days... so no 'free' method of obtaining them according to these notes:

A major mistake on their part, them monetizing crafting makes it more unappealing than the current crafting with that Dilithum Tax.

In short, they are wasting time for themselves and for us. And that budget could've been used for REAL Content, not PWE greed.
NO to ARC!

Season 9.5 = STO's NGE is Here! Welcome to the Grind!
Expansion 2 - Delta Rising: Welcome to Tier 6, where everything is now obsolete. Have fun with the new Crafting!

They are saying the professors name is "Aegis" LMAO oh my.

I think they need to hire ONE person at Cryptic that didn't spend his entire time at school locked away in a computer lab... how could educated people not understand the significance of using the Aegis title.

Cryptic really really need to hire a head writer... who is in fact a writer.

Maybe 'Professor Aegis' is his stage name from his exotic dancing days.

He chose the name in the first place because of his love of shields, so it all sort of fits into place.

I hope, this Doff will be changed to atleast blue quality, he doesnt necessarily have to be purple. I already accidentially dismissed him on Tribble...
