Yesterday at Tier2

We all know that there are two groups of QQers on these boards, the ones that cry over the Cloak and the ones that cry over the Fedball.

I can say this:

Escort : The Klingons pack one hell of a first punch, with fingers on the EP/S hotkey, I had a very hard time surviving for more than a few seconds into the initial burst (complete with all those "uber" rares/uncommons Feds have (including one much overrated 20% disruptor resist shield)). If Klingons coordinate with that first strike its more or less impossible to survive for a Escort (without immediate support from a healer).

Cruiser: These make for awesome healing platforms, are very durable *and* they also pack some nice sustained firepower (3 beams 1 torp), you have to react *very* fast if you want to save that escort being focused though.

The Klingons have the initial advantage, but *If* they fail to succeed in their initial attack the tables turn really fast, the ships have no practical staying power if they dont eliminate atleast one damagedealer on the Fed side. Failure to do this means it will be a match of attrition, in which the Feds are far better suited.

My conclusion, after have played Klingon extensively (1 toon to T4 1 to T3):T2 is actually fairly balanced, I can understand where the whines come from, if Feds cannot survive the initial assault, they will get slaughtered harshly, and if the Klingons cannot get that first kill really fast, they have more or less lost by default..

When an engagement is decided in the first few moments of the start (do Klingons get a kill or not) its not hard to understand why some people would see the other faction as imbalanced (depending on which side theyre on and how it plays out).

Games of last night:

1 Science, 4 Escorts (4 matches) : We lost every match badly, no natural healers (cruisers) = dead Feds
2 Science, 2 Escorts, 1 Cruiser (2 matches) : Won one, lost one.. Matches were fairly close (losing team had 9-12 points
1 Science, 2 Escorts, 2 Cruisers ( 6 matches) : Won 4, lost two.. All matches were really close and tense, in all but 1 match the difference were 1-2 points.

Ill do some more testing tonite, should be ready to head into T3, the added BO slots will make healing much less dependent on Cruisers, but is it enough to counter the addition of the K't'inga?.

Were they all the same player using different ships or new teams as you went through the night?

I agree with your take nearly 100%. My experience has been the same.

I completely agree, if you keep that escort that is getting alpha'd alive then yuor most likely going to win because as you said it becomes a war of attrition, which the klingons are not that well suited.
The escorts are the biggest threat to klingons thats why you take them out first but if you keep that escort alive then its a win for the feds.
When i play a Fed i choose the most likely target from the klingons and get ready to immediately extend shields around him aswell as engineering team if needs be .

More or less the same basic team, flying the same ships.. We did switch one or two during the night.. I changed from a Escort to a Cruiser myself, as we didnt have a healer (and boy, do I love that cruiser.. Im gonna have to stick with it, even tho I have +9 Cannons/+9 Escorts)

t2 is balanced? Pshaw. If played well, kdf shouldn't have a lot of chance to win in t2.

If feds insist on bringing a bunch of escorts they are giving it up.

Different tools for different situations. PVP is a screw. Don't bring a hammer.

3 cruisers and 2 sci ships ina fed ball healing eachother are almost immpossible for t2 kligons to kill

the thing your teams had is escorts lots of em and thats why your resultas are as shown at most there should only be one escort in a premade but generaly your better off with another ruiser/sciship

Again, this is the reason why we need developer QA focus group on a test server with this game. Because I agree with the Feds winning the war of attrition to a point. BoP's are universal and can wield cannons... So I think that for every yin they throw at us, there is potential for an equivalent yang... However, because Cryptic studios is tiny in comparison to other mmo studios, I doubt that the QA process in development was that effective. Respeccing also needs to be here like yesterday.
