It works well in PvP as even if you have the correct target in front and are firing on it, you will see your rear weapons fire on a friendly the whole time even though when not jammed your rear weapons do not auto target and fire on an second enemy.
I wonder if it makes a difference if you only have Turrets in the rear as all weapons would be firing at your main target and no weapon would be "free" to do as it wished unless you weren't pointing your ship at the time to your main target.
I can see this messing up ships (science and escorts) that are hanging back behind cruisers and ending up with a mouth full of phasers and rear firing torpedos.
This could be a decent opening salvo tactic from a front line cruiser.
Its not very effective PvP...Ive used it extensivly. Why? because it shouldnt be about making everyone look like enemies...it should be about providing distorted targeting data to cause weapons to mis-identify the actual target, forcing the weapons to target anybody (even the enemy) or nobody, other than the target...even you click target.
I can care less about the enemy shooting themselves...just make it impossible to purposely hit anything...then it becomes effective in PvP. So yeah, a bunch of errant phasers and stray torps should be the outcome. If necessary, increase the cool down and/or reduce the duration and/or provide deminishing returns for specials used in a given sesseion.
