Imagine!

Updated Bridge commander for space combat, imagine a cross between Mass Effect 2 and Elite Force for ground missions.

Imagine a seemless world, with pvp free for all neutral zones between all the major races where treaties don't apply.

Imagine contested zones near the netrual zones where real time pvp could of shifted the balance and moved your factions borders, glory, reputation and rewards awaiting the victor!

Imagine having interactive ICONIC locations, like Starfleet Academy, HQ or an actual real exploreable Deep Space 9 station and imagine they wasn't made for 18ft giants!

Imagine Team mate npcs that can work a door, manouver coridors and not get stuck running into things.

Imagine beaming onto a romulan base that was made by romulans and does not look like the previous 50 bases with random computers in a series of rooms, with coridors that seemingly put in for fun rather than function.

Imagine real starships, not tiny, tiny tiny model's, where bringing 3 Galaxy class startships to a battle is damm impressive site. Imagine having a deep cusomisable options, improvind hull alloys, warp cores, balancing power, can have 2 shield arrays but only 8 phaser strips would be operational instead of the full 12/14 standard on a Galaxy class.

Imagine taking your ship to Utopia shipyards and being able to walk around it, externally or at least view it in all its glory.

Imagine meeting up with people on a starbase, hooking up with a fleet, going to a holodeck and pew pew to your hearts content things like wolf 359 encounter (raid content)..this both trekkies and pew pew crord get there cake and eat it.

Imagine, content, actual content, voice acting, immersion, quality and care!

Just imagine becuase you ain't going to find it here!

First, reported for trolling. Second, you honestly think cryptic didnt want to do that? They were given less than 2 years to make this game, so they had to use their prebuilt engine. if they had the original 6 year development schedule, this game would have been amazing. As it stands now, it's decent, but far from perfect.
Will it become better given time? Who can say. We'll just have to wait and find out.

while this was the game we were talking about a year ago, you have to keep in mind Cryptic keep the details of the real game on lock down till a month or two befor launch, while this could yet be that game what you discibed is the fan hype and not a realistic game consept put forward by cryptic

Imagine a company that holds the rights to STO dictating terms that you have to have a product within 2 years or loose the IP license....

Dam CBS!! Would have been nice though.

Just imagine if you raise millions of dollars, go to CBS and obtain a license to create a Trek game, Hire a full development team for the normal five to six years it takes to develop an MMO to the scale you are talking about, buy all the hardware needed to run it, lease office space to house the team and hardware, obtain a publisher, and then make your own vision a reality...

Look, no matter how much any of us could dream that STO was a different game, the reality is that THIS is the game we have. Many ideas you have put forward could be implemented into THIS game.

All this thread is going to do is feed the already prevelant nerd-rage and we'll end up with yet another multi-page thread that serves absolutely no useful purpose.

Good day...

A dam holds back water. My imagination has just run wild with you letting a pack of beavers go at Blackrock.

Imagine a forum full of whiners complaining that it takes too long to proceed through Starfleet Academy to get to battle in space.

I am pretty sure all of these ideas made it across the desk of the man in charge and were debated for weeks. When you are weighing the outcry of the community if you go one way against the outcry if you decide to go another, you take the road least *****ed about.

Unfortunately, there is no win/win for Cryptic. Either way they chose to go, the were bound to lose.

The way I see it, you take a show like Star Trek, something loved by millions spanning generations and you try to spin it into an MMO, you are left with the reality that you will undoubtedly incur the wrath of at least some of those fans. So what do you do?
