Ahhhh... So if I'm a science officer using a cruiser I have to find a rare BO to get RPHIII for my engineering slot since I can't myself (beign science) train it?

Its abit more than that, but kinda.

Regardless of your class, you got skills out there you cant get access to unless you use certain rarity of bo's. Science captains cannot have access to all rank III science abilities for bo's by just upping skills, or using the npc trainer. Nor will you find it on common, uncommon, etc.

I have heard, 2, reports of RSP III being on a Rare quality engineer BO. Out of, maybe 15+ pages of blue quality engineer bo's, I have NEVER seen it. I would easily account some tactical class or science putting a rare bo engineer for ALOT of money if they got that skill. As such, i can only count on Very RARE engineer bo's having RSP III.

I cant train it as a captain. Cant get it any other way.

Same with some science rank III, and Tactical.

So it has nothing to do with a different ship than your own captain class. The purpose, aside from ground traits, is very rare to find BO rank III abilities period, for all types of ships. You will still need to use/find them if your a Engineer of a Cruiser, and want that RSP III or power to structual integrity field III.

That is the only way. Less you make money slowly.. but got some, and you buy them. They can be had sometimes for under 100k. Alot of them up.. most are carbon copies for abilities. It is rare but you can find the nice ones for cheap too.

Season 7 of Generations:
Picard Captain
Riker Commander
Dr. Crusher Commander
Troi Commander
Data Lt Commnader
Geordi Lt. Commander
Worf I can't remember if he was a LT commander during season 7 or not.

In any case tossing worf out, Picard (a captain) had 3 commanders, and 2 Lt Commanders. Yet Data was listed as 2nd in command.

but that was after what 7 years, and its Enterprise, the exception.

It's still very funky. think about it

Essentialy you could have 1,000 admerials comanding ships full of Cmdrs, it's just....weird
