I won't lie I will miss the practically perma lockdowns on people but eh I'm sure I can use other stuff, might carry 1 copy of it still rather than multiple.

You will still be able to hit people with VM just wait until after they use thier science team as once science team has been up for a while VM seems to over write it. they have a 45 sec cooldown on thier science team.

So the only people who will be able to break it are the ones that have two science teams, thus reducing the amount of feedback pulse noobs out there.

It's a good change. All abilities should have some self counter (can't always rely on team members). Specially ones as devastating as VM. You can use it to make an enemy use a science team as well when they are fully healed, and it will still delay the players with slower reactions. Or change it to some other skill as it will not be *required* to have.

If you think about this change also kills the attack pattern omega ability.

Attack pattern Beta offers much more damage, I can't see anyone keeping Omega around just to break tractor beam now that science team is a VM breaker.

It's a welcome change, but perhaps they need to tone down science team as it is already much better than engineering team or tactical team.

yup, already on the path to two ships parked in front of each other measuring their dps epeens being the sum total of PvP. Just the same kind of mindset in sword and board games that have lost interesting PvP because the kindergarten set QQed enough to make it just two melee standing there whacking at each other. People not wanting to think or work as a team, just pew pew pew mindlessly and brag about their damage output at the end of the match.

Maybe that escort wants another science power instead? But yes science team is maybe too good, although in fairness there are very few shield buffing powers that are useful. EPTS sucks and the only other option is RSP, and both are engineering powers.


Anyways considering you could still get VMed even with science team already running, I think its premature to declare the death of VM.

The problem is not with engineering team, or science team, both are good abilities. The problem was with VM for the beginning. Having such a crippling ability that can be removed by science team then sets science team heads and shoulders over engineering team.

A way to fix that? Well, weaken VM, give it some other effects, it is still too crippling, and it adds more value to science team. Or give tactical team and engineering team the ability to remove VM as well. That will increase the value of those 2 other teams as well, and put them in line with science team. Ok, and buff tactical team some more, the other 2 are still better :S

I'm trying to determine if SubNucleoinc Beam is considered a hold and is addressed by the patch also.
