# 1 looking/interested in a fleet
02-18-2010, 10:54 AM
I am currently a commander (tactical) flying a heavy cruiser. I dont have any fleet experience, and I am researching the benefits of being in a fleet, and which one. I don't have a regular game schedule though as my other half is not a fan of MMO and can get ****y when I play too long. 30 Plus here in Atlanta. Suggestions are welcomed.

# 3 We Welcome New Players

That’s Right Ladies and Gentlemen, Red Squadrons is back!
To those of you who know us from 11 years ago when we were born, DevilJones RogueTrooper and Maverick say Qapla'!

To those of you who don’t know us, Red Squadrons is a 11 year old Gaming Fleet that was started in 1998 on December the 12th. We've played every single Star Trek Game on the PC and a few of us have played on other Consoles too! We've had many wars protecting our name and our allies from the enemies that said RS wouldn’t last 10 days... Well we survived their attacks and look at us now... 11 years on and we're still here!

Now is the perfect time to join RS. We've undergone a major reconstruction and reorganization and we will be counting on our new recruits to not only reach the standard, but raise it to new heights. RS is always looking for new members, it does not matter if you are good player or not, but that you're a decent person, we are more interested in your personality than your fighting ability. We can teach you how to fight but can't teach you to be a decent human being.

With Eleven Years of Experience in the Trek Community and the gaming world of Fleets, you can be sure of being in safe hands in Red Squadrons with equal opportunities to take a command position and take some extra responsibilities.
Red Squadrons has always supported Star Trek Gaming and Star Trek Gamers, offering a home for all players. We also support Star Trek Gamers the Community and back in 2003 Fleet Commanding Officer DevilJones gave this interview to STG:
http://www.startrek-gamers.com/interview.htm
Our Fleet CO - DevilJones has been our Fleet CO for the entirety of RS life and has always directed and guided the fleet when we needed it.

Red Squadrons doesn't just support Star Trek Games though, we have also in our eleven year life supported over a dozen non Trek games such as the Battlefield Series, the Call of Duty Series, Guild Wars, Travian, the Dawn of War series... to name a few. As a Multi-gaming Fleet you can be assured of some fun and be in good hands when playing another game, most likely one of us will have it and can keep you company!

The Star Trek Online Division will be a new fully created division with only the CO having been assigned a Command Position. Sorry to everyone getting Admiralships in other Fleets, but joining RS first will not guarantee you a Command Position and everyone will start out at the rank of Ensign.
Command Positions have now been appointed for the First and the Second Battlegroup's!

JoenATl,

I know all to well the issues of proper balance between gaming and making sure your wife does not go into "red alert"

As far as benifits of being in a fleet, well, they vary from person to person and fleet to fleet. The benifit of ours is that we are an older aged membership who understands that our "real life" comes before game life and when its time to come back into the game, we strive to provide a casual but friendly atmosphere.

Read on for more information, and let me know if you have any questions I can answer!

The Sentinels are a multi-gaming community with an average age of 30+ and no drama!

We have an active membership in several different MMO's and are building our Starfleet Division here in STO. At this point we have about 40 to 50 active members in our fleet and are steadily growing. The overall guild has over 500 active members and we also maintain our own guild Ventrilo server. We look for quality over quantity, and have a very thorough application process. Its our goal to make sure you are as happy with us as we will be with you.

Our retention rate is very high as we promote more of a gaming community then a single game guild.

Feel free to check out our recruitment thread at http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=94701 or just follow the links in my signature to learn more about us.

As a representative of the Canadian Federation it is my honour to extend an invitation to you JoenATL.

Our members are mature and practical in their conduct. We were formed by casual players whom like to have all the benefits of a fleet without any of the hassles of a rigid command structure. While we may be casual we are very dedicated. Above all else our fleet is about getting together and having fun with our members. The majority of our members are Canadian and American, but don't let that hold you back, we are open to everyone. We have a dedicated Ventrilo server for Fleet communication.

We currently have over 85 helpful, active members and are growing every day.

So if you like what you hear, please come and check out our site. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me or any of our other fleet members.

Thank you for your consideration,

The Canadian Federation

# 8 Benefits of being in a Fleet
02-18-2010, 06:45 PM
Greeting JoenATL, I'll respond to your query about Fleet membership benefits - there are a number that may ring for you, and some that may not. Here's a shortlist:

You can team with mates who you know and who know you. Personal is nice, but in STO, knowing your team mates' strengths in ship and away mission activity will help you all be more efficient and effective. PUGs are notorious for uncoordinated action, with your Fleet-mates, you can all work together to defeat the enemies - a much more satisfying experience.

You can get more directed answers to your questions. Most Fleets have some support mechanism that shares knowledge gained by everyone. Usually a Fleet forum where members can share information and tips - this is handy to have, esp. for folks new to the game. While nothing beats your own research, we are all looking for similar info

You can share resources, and have an easier time with loot distribution. STO has a Fleet bank where members can place items they no longer need, for use by other members who would find them a significant upgrade. If you need energy credits to get that one item you can' find and can't afford, your Fleet Bank may have the resources to help you out.

If you enjoy helping others, a Fleet is a great place to be. If you like teaching, a Fleet will always have willing and thankful players who will think you are fantastic when you impart that simple little tip that eluded them.

An MMO is designed for multi-player, and having Fleet-mates (even if you don't play with them constantly) is much more fun than a PUG. Some Fleets have diplomatic ties to other Fleets, creating alliances and pacts that widen your circle of friends to play with.

Teaming with players of other career paths is much better than your own BOs. You can pew-pew away, and depend on an engineer or science officer to buff you, debuff your targets, and help you get the skillpoints you need without endless grinding. Doing missions or PvP with a mixed group of players lets everybody contribute from their strengths - look good and do good - very satisfying.

If you want responsibility, command, the chance to lead, or just to work and have someone else lead and direct battles, etc., a Fleet can give you the in-game experience you want.

If you have specific peferences (RP or not, PvP or PvE exclusively or a mix, casual or hardcore, etc.) you should post them so you get less cut-and-paste recruiting replies and more directed "this is the Fleet for you and why" type of posts.

Of course, I think my Fleet's the best, check us out at www.vulcankolinahrfleet.com but this post is more about helping you figure what is best for you. Whatever you decide, look for Keysailor or any VKF member in-game, we love to team!

# 10 - Clan Hunters -
02-19-2010, 01:06 AM
If you are interested in a fleet of Mature, Fun, Helpful people, check out our Fleet.

The – Clan Hunters – has existed since before 2000, it all started on Armada I and expanded to Armada II and many other Star Trek and non Star Trek games.
We are a pretty laid back fleet with few rules to follow.
We are an International Fleet so there is always someone online in your time zone, or whatever time of the day you might find yourself in front of the PC.
You should be able to do whatever you want in our Fleet, we do not force anyone to do this or do that if someone wants to PVP, they can create a group and go PVP if someone wants to RP they can create a group and go RP.

We have a Website, new Forums, and Ventrilo server.

What we are looking for:
Someone that can follow our simple rules of conduct, we are an international fleet and we do not badmouth others or other fleets.
Someone that does not take ranks to serious, but enjoy excelling by being friendly and helpful
We are also looking for people who like to be part of forming the clan into something that is enjoyable for everyone, taking part on the forums setting up PVP games and doing missions as a group.

If you have knowledge of running a fleet, setting up websites, forums etc you are more than welcome to help out with things that needs to be done.
We often have discussions on the forums with things that can be a benefit of the everyone, and everyone in the Fleet has a right to vote on the matter.
We value everyone’s input and opinions.

If you are interested in joining:
Post a comment to our tread on STO http://forums.startrekonline.com/sho...d.php?t=110629
Visit our site and forums www.ClanHuntersHQ.com
You can also pm me in the game Nikita@NikitaCH
And if you actually took the time to read all this you should know that yes I am a Female, and yes I am a ST Fan.
