Aw man I have been gearing up for 2009, with the movie and the game both being released in the same year I have been on cloud 9. Now with this 2010 release date I'm a little saddened. I hope with this extra time I can realistically expect Infogrames/Atari/Crptic Studios to produce an extremely polished game come 2010. In the meantime I guess I'll just edit my copy of Game Informer. It'll be easy seeing as how everyday I check the article to make sure it truly said "Fall 2009".
I know I am still new on this site but I, personally have been hoping for years to have an a Star Trek MMO. Now it finally seems like it's going to happen and take a look at the latest news. From my previous experiance with game companies being bought out, most games in developement are assessed for potential profitability and those that aren't gonna turn the kind of profit that the company wants gets put on the back burner. Not to mention, they tend to change various parts of the game for the worse. I , personally think this is going to be a bad idea. Hmmm...could we be seeing the demise of STO before it even begins? I hope not, but Now that Atari is buying Cryptic out, it could very well be. And one thing I will say, I have quite a few games that Atari has ownership or control of. And no offense to Atari or its employees, but their game support isn't all that good as far as I have seen.
IF Viacom purchases Infogrames...( http://www.alacrastore.com/deal-snap...ment_SA-391024 )STAR TREK RETURNS HOME. Star Trek would be totally back under the control and development of Viacom. Which is what many people said Viacom should have done when this started...buy a game developer and hold Star Trek fo themselves if it were considering a TV Show/MMO tie-in.

MMORPG news: Eve online goes retail; Atari exclusively
Atari and CCP, one of the world's leading independent game developers, today announced a partnership which will see Atari exclusively distribute boxed versions of CCP's award winning PC MMOG, EVE Online. The game will be available in retail outlets in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific regions beginning March 2009. In addition, Atari will provide trade marketing services to augment CCP's consumer marketing initiatives for EVE Online. http://reinouttebrake.blogspot.com/2...1_archive.html
2010???? So that is sooner than we're supposed to think. If that's when it comes out I'll go into suspended animation till then. At least we know Crptic won't go belly up before 2010. I wish I wish for beta in 2009.
Well at least it appears that all is not lost as it 'could' have been if 'cryptic' went belly up from the economic situation. If Atari continues with the flow of the development to make the StartrekOnline game as was projected then maybe they can make it even better that it would have been.
Besides, I still got my Atari 800xl and Atari 65XE with boosted 1050s, I'm all ready for StartrekOnline!
Lets see I'll need entire wall plug ins to get that one up and running and a spare Tv ... Loading Please wait.. (falls asleep)....
