I am against all modding of MMOs, play the game how it was meant to be played.

/Signed for UI modding, or anything else that increases player options.

I don't see any of those two reasont given as legitimate.

1) is not a reason, here you just belittle Cryptic
2) just because some MMOs have UI modding communities, doesn't mean that STO *must* also have them

It makes sense when you consider all the modifications, say Geordi made throughout the series.

Hmm...what if the game is HORRIBLY BROKEN?
Wouldn't it be better to be able to modify your UI instead of quitting the game because it's unplayable?

Also, please tell me you ever played WoW...please....

Bah! He must be Amish.

Mods are a wonderful way to personalize a game to your liking.

Map Mods so you can find things easier.
Meters to fine tune your ships abilities
Bars you can totally customize and move
Communications made easier.

Not allowing mods is like never changing your underwear....sooner or later they become unbearable. STO will become stale.

Yes, please! Modifying the UI to fit my playstyle and get my interface just the way I like it would be great. UI modding adds a whole 'nother aspect to games to keep us interested. Cryptic is incredibly strong on customization--let's see just how far that commitment goes!

to repsond:

1) it is a reason
2) they "must" if they want to remain in business.

LORTO, ****, etc....player base gone to nearly nothing. I would be playing Lotro if I had mods to customize the game to my liking.

You dont like mods....fine....play vanilla...but mods have their place in every mmo.

Heck, couple that with a script to continuously reinforce forward shields and you have the equivalent to a bot.

Addons are great when they're for UI things, but horrible when they automate gameplay.
Starship control is different. This mmo is a bit different. You are the Captain of a starship. You have a crew to command. If I command my tactical officer to open fire then I should not have to stand over him to make sure he pushes the buttons. If I tell my engineering officer to keep my shields up then he should be able to do that without me having to command him all the time, etc.

While I do think there should be some button pushing YOU are a Starship Captain. You Command. Your crew is as good as you have trained them to be. Ground combat is different.
