A bug that involved Romulan Liberated Borg captains and their skills once they chose an ally
I find it very frustrating that we are limited in our ability to move up and down, restricted to almost a cone shape. We should be able to point our ships straight up or down.
agreed. its supposed to be space combat, not helicopter combat.
A helicopter can go up or down without going forward or backwards.. We can not change our Z axis without moving in the X and changing our pitch in the Y axis.
A better analogy of the current system might be an Autogyro.
I do agree that we should be able to change our Z axis without going forward and pitching up or down.. This is how Kirk beat Khan in ST II in the nebula.
There were many threads on this in Open Beta. I am sure Cryptic is very aware that their customers want this if it is possible.
There's one Patrol mission in the Cardassia Sector where your objectives (destroy some sattelites) are down along that 45-degree angle you can manage. And it's really, really annoying on what would otherwise be an innovative map.
Yep plain sucks but devs said they cant do it, because when they decided to use the champions online base engine, it wasnt coded into the core because... well because champions doesnt have space flight.... So while i admire a company that recycles, for such a big title i think alot of their corner cutting is going to bite them in the arse when the free 30 day sub ends...

In Champs.. If you have flight.. You can hold down the space bar and fly directly up. If you fly straight and hold the space bar you will also go up, without changing your pitch. I am surprised my Galaxy Crusier is not as agile in the Z axis as Tropical Oil Man or the Atomic Albino. Oh well...
Ahhh, I have fond memories of asking for this before open beta. I was promptly told by other forum members that I didn't know what I was talking about, and that this would not be an issue anyone cared about.
Gives me a warm feeling to see just how correct I was, and how foolish those others were.
At any rate, good luck with the quest to get this done. Its been asked for since early closed beta, and Cryptic has stated flat out that this is NOT going to happen. Not because their engine can't do it, but because they just don't want to.
Someone said it was because they want to keep in the Star Trek TV show feel. In which you almost never see ships flying vertically.
But this needs to be changed or else I personally would like to see the vertical arc of the weapons changed. If a cruiser flys over my escort I cant target him with my 45 degree cannons no matter what I do, but meanwhile he is pounding away with his beams.
Can someone please say defiant? I want barrel rolls like that or else to be able to shoot up and down with my cannons.
Personally, I enjoy hovering over escorts in my beam cruiser laying salvo after salvo into them while they shake their puny fists in rage as they cannot get their dual cannons lined up. While it is completely unrealistic, it is one of the few advantages that a cruiser has in space combat.
