Sorry to say that i think your kicking a dead horse with this one. There was so much overwhelming opposition to the current 3d flight restrictions but all went unanswered by craptic in CB and OB.

I 100% agree the way things are is totally stupid, especially flying an escort with 45 degree cannons... killing someone directly above or below you is a pain.

I remember reading from a developer once (when he was answering people about this issue) saying "You will not miss it". LOL... I MISS IT... and I want true 3d flight.

Yeah it's a given.... escorts are the only ones capable of mounting cannons... so you mount cannons. I don't wanna gimp my escort by 'NOT' mounting cannons.

But this needs to be changed or else I personally would like to see the vertical arc of the weapons changed. If a cruiser flys over my escort I cant target him with my 45 degree cannons no matter what I do, but meanwhile he is pounding away with his beams.

Can someone please say defiant? I want barrel rolls like that or else to be able to shoot up and down with my cannons.
Wow. If you can't outmaneuver a cruiser to get out from directly underneath it, you fail as an escort pilot.

The devs also said back before CB that when we saw the stuff they had for the Klingons we wouldnt care about a lack of episodic content.

Honestly. If they don't want us flying in three dimensions they shouldn't make vertical maps. I remember the one from the cardassian sector. I also remember one that was literally 90 degree rings. Awesome looking planet but I just left that mission. I wasn't about to put myself through that hell. I dont remember where that was. Might have been exploration.

Yes just yesterday as a matter of fact I did a mission that had a planet like that. It wasn't 90 degree rings but they were a bit steeper than the 45 degree flight limit we have. I had to kill Romulans and blow up satellites I think.

After playing EVE Online, I must admit that I am very disappointed in STO's space combat. Flying up and down at 70 degree angles is frusterating.

Remember "...All Good Things" when the Enterprise with 3 nacells flew up under the enemy at a 90 degree angle and destroyed the enemy with that huge cannon?

That's what I want.

Apparently (I've heard) that if they add true limitless space flight, they would also have to add ventral and dorcel shielding. I don't see why, but heck, they should have that anyway.

Well, if that's there reasoning, it's a pretty poor one. Simple enough solution to apply the damage to the shield facing that the hit comes closest too...
