He is a very good player.
These guys can do it in other than science vessels also. One the most effective guys Ive run into was in an Escort...the Captain's name was Datawalker. He repeatedly foiled any attempt I made had successfully engaging him. I was actually hell bent on getting him...I just couldnt pull it off. He was same level, +0 to my level.

Yes, but that's the problem. It takes a lot of skill and coordination to apply it correctly. It's not "innate" as the game manual says it is for science ships. And once you start playing a Federation science officer, you'll realize that even if the player knows what he's doing, oftentimes it depends a lot on luck. Sensor Scan grants you a perception buff for 15 seconds, but it has a cooldown of 1 minute 30 seconds. You have no idea whether there are any Klingons in the vicinity until you use it... and once you have, you've thrown away your ability to detect cloaked ships again for almost a minute and a half.

In general, the ability of science vessels to detect cloaked ships needs to be significantly improved for it to be really useful in PVP.

Yes, you can detect retarded klingons if they dont watch for sensor scan cooldown. be smart and you won't get detected.

Yeah, if you just wait until 15 seconds after you see the blue Sensor Scan effect, you get 1 minute 15 seconds to go anywhere and do anything you want and the best science player in the world can't detect you for all the latinum on Ferenginar.

It doesn't matter sometimes since with sensor scan buff up a science captain can still see you at 8-15k out. I run full aux 122 power in kerrat and there are quite a few science captains that can target me past 10km while coming in for a first strike. There are some encounters where they have no ss buff active and can still see you around 8-15k out and keep you targeted till 25k+.

Cloak needs a buff as does battle cloak.

I would like some confirmation of this from a Fed player with greater experience. Without Sensor Scan being active, I can't see a cloaked ship at 1 KM, let alone 25+. Are you sure your cloaking device was on?

I call BS. I played both fed sci capt and kling eng capt in T1-T5, never was detected over 10k or never detected over 10km. Even when I used all sensor equipment with 165+ skill.

No single klingon ever provided any kind of prove that they were detected over 10km.

Ive been detected at very close to 10km...it happened by surprise and the dynamic aspect of the situtation keeps me from determing the exact range...but it was dang close to +/-10km. This was eith T3 or possibly even T2.

Kent was smart and saved his Sensor Scan for my egress not my attack(something most Feds fail to see the value in). I'd de-cloak, he'd buff up for my initial strike, then begin delivering his pay-back. I'd eventually have to cloak and exit the engagement...thats when he sprung the trap and pursue, detect and hit me when I was at my weakest...not at my strongest.

Too many Feds think they have to get us before we hit them, not realizing for BoPs especially, that you're to trying to fight us at our strength....you guys are just making Sun Tzu cry.

it goes up to 15km when trained and geared...
