Just as soon as they can figure out how to prevent people from using profanity, or sexual themes for their icons.
Simple solution is to constrain in-game Fleet logos to pre-generated iconography and colours (similar to heraldry).
In other words, there is a logo generator screen where you can select any combination of existing (game provided) icons and colour schemes.
Because everyone must select from the same base icons and colours, they would need to be non-unique (so two Fleets could theoretically have the same logo in-game).
Most MMOs do this already.
As much as I would like to be able to scan and upload my own personal logo, I prefer the above simple solution, since it makes use of existing customisation tech and gives something to players without requiring anything from them.
If we want custom logos, we can have them on our own Fleet web sites.
That sounds better. The other method sounds very limiting.
I mean it cant be that hard.

I would love a job like that!
Indeed - I could think of worse jobs, to be sure!
I'm quite certain the issue of "how to do it" is less of a problem than "who, when, and how much will it cost us?" Any project/initiative involves 3 resources (no matter how large or small): $$$, Heads, Time. I'm sure it's a matter of determining how much of each category we've got and deciding how to compensate for lowest available of the categories, i.e., if there's enough money and heads, but not enough time - the time factor will have to be compensated by adding more heads (to reduce the time) and/or adding money for heads, tools, outsource, etc.
Potentially complex situation when also considering the fact we've received a new content update (Season 1) and the "unrequested functionality" occurring at the onset of new code.
I'm sure we'll see this functionality before too long (as there are "placeholders" in game). It just can't come fast enought!!
Yeh, but with Cryptic as understaffed as they've been, I'd prefer an expansive logo creation system that uses images similar to current military heraldry (simple lozenges, circles, etc, filled with numbers, letters, swords, split colors, etc) rather than wait four months for logo approval.
I think Cryptic really "must" consider supporting user-made content.
It is the way of the future for MMO's and thats one of the things that was really terrific with Pirates of the Burning Sea.
PotBS has user submitted sail decals and flags as a standard feature for everyone.
