Just giving this biologist's view. Most of my math teachers had a rigid, antagonistic attitude with their students (except my HS calculus teacher, he was hilarious). For engineering or physics, I could see it being much more important, especially in hypothetical fields.

Today I was bitten. By a ToyChiuaua named (I kid you not) Chadzilla. No harm done, thank goodness. My boss would have flayed me alive, if I hurt the frothing little psychopuppy.

He was so tiny I didn't even notice I was being mauled, until I went to take a step and he flew into the customers house like a furry squeeking hackey sac.
