The thread is not encouraging. Im probably going to be making an alt soon. Im an engineer on a cruiser.
I was thinking of going tactical in an escort. Should I do science instead? I really like the cruiser even though some people complain about it. I love it.
Would science be a better choice then?
The reason is really survival. Tac escorts really are delicious morsels unless supported because of it. An engineering escort can rely on the Engi captain skills to survive some focus firing. Likewise, a Tac captain in a cruiser can make use of the extra engineer BOs to get more survival skills. Unfortunately, a Tac in an escort has neither, and will die under focus fire unless supported by someone who can provide that missing survivability.
I wouldn't be surprised if he could... Reverse Shield Polarity x5 (various ranks) plus Rotate Shield Frequency, Hazard Emitters, Polarize Hull, and/or Engineering Team can provide a... pretty ridiculous... amount of PvP survivability.
Hello I am an Escort. I have done PvP since T1 and I have not a single complaint. I play smart and in a 5 on 5, I run my power settings so I can hit evasive if I am primary. I get lots of kills and typically get top damage. In larger games I absolutely murder the other side unless the teams are completely imbalanced skill wise. In those cases I only somewhat murder the other side.
My escort thinks your escort should learn to play and if you haven't already, pick up RSP, science team, and jam sensors.
