Like everyone else, all I can say is AWESOME! Thanks for the Christmas gift Cyptic!
In addition to it being a great looking ship and a fine addition to the line, I was very pleased with amount and detail level of the info provided, it sheds alot of light on the kinds of ships we'll be running in the game.
Since you're in the giving mood, how about a peek at a Klingon equivalent?
Also, if you have not come up with a new name for the NX91001 yet, you could always make it into a contest for us forumgoers, with the winner getting something neat (aside from having named the class, which is awesome in itself)
I'm not sure if this was ever made into "offical" canon, but usually the name of a new type of ship becomes the "class" name for any other ships that follow. For example the U.S.S Defiant that we saw on DS9 was the first ship of that type, and the other ships that were made after it in that class were Defiant class ship. The U.S.S Constellation was the first Constellation type ship made and the famous U.S.S Enterprise followed at some point after that.
Anyway, if Cryptic is following that model we won't know the class name until whenever they chose to reveal the ship's name. Personally, I think we're long overdue for an Enterprise class of ships!
I thought the Enterprise-A the first Enterprise class ship but my googling has proved otherwise...
Thank you Cryptic for giving us such a nice Christmas Present with revealing one of the ships!
Though I'm surprised that the ship we saw all this time wasn't really a Sovereign-refit, like we were lead to believe. Instead, this ship is more or less an Improved Sovereign that warranted a new ship class designation altogether.
And Type 14 Phaser Banks?
I honestly was expecting Type 13s to be the standard during this time frame. Guess phaser technology gained quite a bit in 30 years.
Now as for the NX-91001's Class Designation, I'm betting you all are going to hold a contest. Either you are going to name the class after the first player gets this vessel, or you are going to hold a contest. (Personally, I hope it's the latter.)
