So, is ther any point to my TAC BO having HY1 and HY2?

Is there a joint cooldown for the same power type or something?

Yes, all abilities that utilize the same system (all ranks of Torpedo: High Yield use the Torpedoes system, for example) have a 20 second global cooldown. At max rank you can use a THY ability every 30 seconds; with 2 of them, you can alternate them every 20 seconds. Up to you if it's worth it, but most people would say no.

Ok..

So with 2 Photon Launchers in front they fire once every 6 + 3 seconds right? Individual plus global Photon Torpedo cooldown?

And with HY1 and HY2, I can alternate between 2 and 3 torps in each tube, once every 20 seconds?

At 0 (Begin engagement), 3 torps
0 + 9 seconds later, 1 torp
0 + 20, 2 torps
0 + 29, 1 torp
0 + 40, 3 torps
0 + 49, 1 torp
0 + 60, 2 torps

So 13 torps per minute? That seem right?

The global cooldown on torp launchers doesn't get added to the normal cooldown. With 2 photon launchers, you could fire alternately every 3 seconds. So your firing would go more along the lines of:

0 - 3 torps
3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 - 1 torp
21 - 2 torps
24, 27, 30, 33, 36, 39 - 1 torp
42 - 3 torps

Of course, if you're actually firing torps at their max rate of fire like that, I doubt the battle is going to last 42 seconds...

Ah thx for correcting me.

So basically both HY1 and HY2 leads to one extra torpedo every 42 seonds? Seems maybe its not worth it then...though other TAC Ensign powers don't exactly seem any better tbh

Looks like you missed the double shot at 21 seconds. But if you spaced out your torpedo shots so you could use them exactly when THY was off cooldown, then you're only getting 1.5 additional torpedoes every 20 seconds on average (2 additional torps for High Yield II, 1 additional from High Yield I, alternating the ability every 20 seconds with a 1.5 average increase in torpedo number). Move up to a 60 second firing iteration, assuming you only fire torps when High Yield(s) are off cooldown, you'll fire 10 total torpedoes by mixing the 2 abilities (3 from HYT II at 0 seconds, 2 from HYT I at 20 seconds, 3 from HYT II at 40 seconds, 2 from HYT I at 60 seconds), or you'll fire 9 total torpedoes by just using HYT II (3 at 0 seconds, 3 more at 30 seconds, 3 more at 60 seconds).
