10/10 for the OP and Captain_Caligula.

When will there be a part 2 of A few good basement dwellers?

I will give my point.

I brought a game that supposed to me THE MMO of my life. and in 10 days I found my self lost at end-game space, with NOTHING else to do and NO espectations of early changes (read feedback from cryptic) tikets closed with an automatic message of "Thank you for playing" (sounds sarcasm to me). STO was overpriced (for a game that you can mainly create 2 chars) obviously with an eye on "microtransactions".

The true is that the real open beta test was used by our "free 30 days include" (34 if you pre-order and tryed to play in HS).

STO came low-rated on most MMO sites. *cries* (Im emo) what mean that when someone complain may have any reason.

Where you guys want me to talk about my frustration? ps.: My mom alread died.

The brand ST saved STO and the "franshise", thanks all those who wear Spok ears to while play.

This forum was made to FEEDBACK on GENERAL GAMEPLAY.

Well, for those who used to play Star Trek in PbMRPG, STO is a great MMO. (wait, instances with 20 playes is MMO? allright)

Over obsessive, out of their mind, basement dwellers dig in on the big discussion boards of whatever game it happens to be. Their drama filled open letters to the public echo the tone of a suicide note and its nothing new. Unhappy people with more time on their hands than most complain about not having enough to do with every new game. The guy who scoffs, ridicules, and makes jokes about a "casual gamer" aka someone who doesen't rely on a video game as their life's sole source of entertainment. Then want to act shocked like its the first time anyone has ever run out of content in a video game when in reality someone seems to have run out of content in their life. Lets put it how it really is, shall we?

WAKE UP and realize that your love affair with MMORPG's is over. You are never going to get the same sense of enjoyment or satisfaction that you used to from playing these kinds of games. Due to this, you have a thin frayed thread of tolerance for the same kind of imperfections you would have gladly gargled down in the past from the games you used to love so much. Now you are jaded, sick of mmo's in general, and in denial.

That being said, we don't need your help figuring out wether a video game is good or not. You aren't doing anyone a favor rather than just being an annoyance. Theres no point in trying to punish or crusade against a game maker for your lack of willpower to not buy a new game right away when it releases, and especially when release after release fails in your opinion.

The game makers aren't the problem, you are the problem. How do I know that its you? Because if it wasn't, you would be too busy playing something better and not crying about how this or that game doesen't fill the huge void in your life. This is probably why we don't see jack as far as new game releases have to go compared to 5-10 years ago. MMO releases in particular have become tryouts for american idol only you're version of simon has bottled epeen into a steroid and taken enough of it to make a horse loose its mind.

Look at it this way, after canceling your previous mmo account, (which im sure half of you didn't just like linus clings to his blanket) you have less in this game than a night out with the girlfirend you probably don't have. If the game entertains you for 2-3 weeks, it doesen't owe you anything. If it doesen't, then you should have been patient enough to find out for sure what you're buying. Either way you have no right to complain with a "this is why I'm leaving" post. Any suggestions will be reserved for people who might actually keep playing the game and not cry & quit reguardless of what the devs do. Seriously, don't think for a minute that game devs can't smell your kind a mile away, or take your suicide note seriously.

You wouldn't demand money back from a casino and this is no different. Quit being a victim of an educational system who taught you that you're special and life is fair. I'm no fanboi, I don't even like star trek that much beyond the original and thats because its behives and eyelash extensions in space. I can't guarantee how long I will continue to play this or anyother game. What I can guarantee is that if I quit, I won't be wearing a cyber billboard letting you know why I'm heartbroke and lamenting over it.
While this post is funny and has a hint of truth in it that I agree with..............

Son, we live in a world that has firewalls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with keyboards. Whose gonna do it? You? The Star Wars Kid?

We have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for STO, and you curse the nerds. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That STO, while having problems, probably saved the franchise. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, is a fact of life.

You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about on MMO forums, you want me on that firewall, you need me on that firewall.

We use words like binary, code, debug. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who plays and downloads under the blanket of the very security that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a keyboard, and go on 24 hour call.

Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!
This one is just freaking hilariuos!

But this is what really scares me in my old age.

When we teach that while all men were created equal, life doesn't care about it and intelligence is needed to survive. I seriuosly fear we will PC ourselves into oblivion.

Love the first two posts.

I whole heartedly agree with the OP. But to follow it up with such a response in post #2 was even better.

I wholeheartedly agree with OP. Honestly I cannot figure out what most of the ****y, crybaby *****ing is about. Post #2 knocks it out of the park and then Harahell comes in and skirts the border of Poe's Law with what looks like the usual Wet Diaper Rant to the point where I can't tell if he's serious or parodying.

I play STO and I *LIKE* the game. I'm looking forward to the improvements.

I very much like how cover actually means something in space and on the ground and how there's no Instant Gecko Shoes that allow things to suddenly climb sheer surfaces or shooting through obstacles like you see in poorly mechaniced games like WoW.

Overall, a very good launch.

ps. Other games have worse instancing... many have the worst type called "sharding" where players can never play together.

Neither of which is particularly fun to play alongside.
I haven't backed myself into anything. I didn't single out an aspect of the "STO community," I singled out an aspect of all mmo's and their forums. Don't want me in your "fleet action?" Well, I guess I'll cry myself to sleep eventually. I've said nothing here that I wouldn't say to your face, so I guess you wouldn't like me personally either. I wouldn't be fun to play along side over something I've said on the forum of a game? I'm just on the opposing team huh? Thats like saying if your anti racist, you're actually still a racist. Get a clue and quit being butthurt over just a tiny dose of truth that has clearly struck a nerve.
