"Login failed for unknown reason" error
Missing additional character slot for current/ lapsed Gold Members
Slow patching in the launcher
A bug that involved Romulan Liberated Borg captains and their skills once they chose an ally
Alright this started last night and I have been unable to log on since. When I press the launcher icon it simply says "Loading. Please wait," and stays like that for hours; it never actually loads. Its launcher version CL_2010_02_18_16_01.
I tried right clicking and using the run command but my admin has no password and it will not accept the admin without a password. So I can only run it as myself, the user. Doing so I finally got the launcher to come up but the username and password were removed. So I typed them in and retried and when I hit submit, it says loading launcer on the bottom left hand side of the launcher, then it loads the information page that says news, release notes, etc comes up in the launcher window, then it simply crashes. This happens over and over. The crash brings up a little window that says "CrypticError: Oops." When I go to submit it I get a window that pops up that says:
"Crashed Application 6791357

First off, thank you for all of your assistance you provide to everyone on here. I have read your FAQ and have tried some of the items on there with little success. I am using XP professional, but I have never set a password, I am not even sure how I could go about setting a password. As far as I know there is no admin password and it is just a blank, but when I try to hit enter with it blank (i.e. clicking the field but typing nothing in it), I get a message saying it won't accept a blank password. I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it was of no help.
Since there is no password, I don't have to worry about forgetting it or it expiring. Does this help?
Scott, using your link I was able to set an admin password, and then used the right click run command to run as admin (with the PW) and it worked. The game is now repatching (since I had reinstalled). Hopefully this fixes things and I will keep you posted if it does not. What went wrong exactly? What was causing that delay in the Launcher?
Once again, thank you. I hope you're on the Cryptic payroll, because if you're not its a darn shame with the great assistance you provide.

Very glad you got it running again and thanks for letting us know what the fix was. Looks like some others had this issue and more than likely a permissions problem for them too.
