# 1 Player Panic?
10-06-2013, 12:44 PM
Is it just me, or do people seem to panic more when they're in Elite matches? Or perhaps just a certain one?

I've been playing Infected: The Conduit a number of times and it seems like everything falls apart at the first Nanite Transformer. We kill the generators and, all of a sudden, DPS on the Transformers plummets and I watch most of the team turn their attention towards the approaching Nanite Spheres. Once that happens, it's all over - not only do we lose the Optional, everything falls apart and it takes much longer than it should to complete the mission. It makes me want to take the leaver penalty most of the time because it's so frustrating.

All I want to know is "why?" All you have to do is focus all of your attention on the Transformers and it goes fast? Why do they feel like they have to attack the Spheres as I've seen it does nothing to deter them.

because thats how its done on normal, and unless its been explained to them, a lot of newbs dont actually know how to do it the easiest way.

its worse in kang when you have a team that can barely dps bops, and captain 1337 dude-bro McMLG blows a cube causing raptor spawns, because the basic stf doesnt telegraph whats going to happen in the game-play.
If you like the RPG trinity, then you hate MMOs, you hate working, competitive fair PvP, you hate balanced engaging solo content,
and,
you hate PvE "adventure zones". because the trinity is incompatible with any of these.

Use fleet groups or build your pugs as private rooms, explain or gain understanding of tactics with your team.

Which is why I prefer flying my Sci / Vesta. I can't wait to cast that GW, energy drain, TBR on spheres. Usually calms everyone down and they get back to business. Throw in a sensor scan on transformer just after the last generator pops is like throwing blood in the water. The sharks ... err players go into a frenzy.

Just explain it to players and everything will be fine. Or bring your super duper escort and do it all yourself. Did that on my defiant today.

The spheres don't activate their EPTEs until the transformer is down. Once I noticed that I started going for the spheres first, before the transformers.

Spheres are down before the Transformer drops and we all go to the next side. Saves time this way. Tis why I do it

After my transformer goes on each side in ISE, I'll head over to the nanite spheres and slow them down with a GW3 and, if needed once GW3 is over, TBR. I make sure that those nanites ain't getting nowhere near that transformer. Once the spheres start ignoring my attempts to stop them, I bug out to avoid getting killed through mass pressure fire and the gate's bloody shield killing beam before coming around to join in the sphere hunt.

BTW, I'm an eng toon flying a Tac Vesta and pump out close to 4.5K DPS on the QFP alone, run effective 100 on weapons power and 124 on aux power. My FBP2 reflects .73 damage and my MQS (big purple bubble) reflects 1.3 damage, so I'm certainly no slouch in the damage department.

Maybe it happens with new players - I can feel when I'm the only one contributing considerable DPS to the transformer's destruction - it happened twice yesterday, but all is good - You won't believe what a GW1 with gravimetrics doff, 105 Aux and 267@Gravigens do to these poor nanite spheres. Then FAW2+EPtW3+APB3 and elite scorps on attack....the rest is space debris.

This, I've also taken to going for the spheres after popping all 4, as i know my scimitar can wipe them all out with reletive ease. It saves on the chasing after them in figures of 8.

Yes, I have started doing the spheres first, as well. If its a high DPS group, I will still knock down the transformer first, just to get it done quick.

But for pugs or low DPS groups, I let them whittle down the trans while I mangle the spheres for them. It also has the nice side effect of spiking my DPS through the roof >=]

The change to EPtE in the last patch kind of removed every sticking problem the spheres were doing, and has made gravity well clumping viable again. ISE is now pretty much a cakewalk, but at least we dont have unattackable spheres stuck in the gaps of the gate.

Or a GW followed up by a CSV from a tacscort running with you. The clump and lawnmower effect is absolutely amazing.
