# 1 Unbalanced game play..

Ive been doing alot of testing and what I have found so far concerns me. Ive rolled 2 toons now and tact, and eng. bothing flying escort. Ive used beams and cannons, and Im confused. Cannons are very directional based and use very little energy even while useing cannon rapid fire... In pvp feds are slow against all kink ships we cant bring our main weapons to bare on our target. We cant dictate the fight, they have cloak and can chose when to fight and not to fight... So basicly they are faster have more tools they can pick there fights they are built for cannons feds are not.

I know escorts are cannon platforms but they are slower have less armor and cant cloak. So I did the next best thing I went eng. escort and used beams, thats almost a waste. Beams are ranged based and are other wise useless beyond 6k. They get 4k to to burn our sheild and our heals. leaving us in a close dog fight, with a slower ship no armor wepons that use all your energy with beam overload...

I can see a few fixes to solve all of this, why this is even a problem is beyond me MMORPGs have been around for almost 15 years now why are we repating the same mistakes?

You all can get mad and say I haveno skill but those are all facts I stated. its in game and its a big problem...

I play Commander/tactical with a escort and a cruiser. The only difference I have seen is that the Escorts do higher DPS with less ability to take a hit. I still find my cruiser w/beams to dish out a huge amount of dammage though, certainly out at the 8-9 klick range - which is were I stay in combat. Maybe you loadout in consoles and shields needs tweaking? Or your power setting?

I dunno, I've never had problems laying waste to entire waves of klingons in PVP, and that's in an escort -- the problem I always run into is when my allies don't stay together and thus get picked off one by one.

ive played both and pretty = to me u have to play them in thier own way and u sound like ur stuck on fed side anyway ur minds made up already.

Thats what I thought but Ive tweaked it a bit and what Im finding out iss that its the klinks alot comes back to cloak... the only ships that needs cloak are escort class ships. Not every klink ship and both sides need to have it, they are still faster then us we are at a constant disadvantage....

Fact still remains beam overload is useless it takes all your energy, even if you save it, if there sheilds go down you are then useless for 20 secs after ahh by the time your in range for it to be good your dead...

Well, you just have to play a klingon to the same level as your fed and you will understand. The same shield array will have a different (less) on a klingon ship. In addition, realize that a dual beam bank will actually do more damage than dual heavy canons 7km and farther away. In most cases (tier 2 is the exception i believe), escorts have a greater hull than there BoP counterpart. Finally, note the klingons have NO real episodes. Meaning no quest rewards, only what can be obtained through badges. Also, realize that only the BoP can battle cloak and often gets banged up in the process as our shields go down (and do not recover while we are cloaked, and we cant use engineering team cloaked)

That being said, every tier of pvp combat is different, is some case drastically. Playing both sides from tier I-IV, I have found.
Tier 1: big kling advantage (BoPs start off good)
Tier 2: slight Fed Advantage (no kling cruiser classes, cruisers were hard to kill tier 2)
Tier 3: Decent kling advantage (kling crusier is beast, 4 forward weapons, decent turn rate)
Tier 4: Seems to even out a bit

This is just my experiences, playing with both PUGs and also playing with friends with premades using Vent.. for both klingon and feds.

This of course doesn't account for the fact that klingons usually have more pvp exoerience.

Give and take, I think its prob impossible to get everyone to feel any game is balanced, just got to deal with what they give you. Adjust your strategy, and HAVE FUN!!

Then possiblt its a world balance issue. At release the Feds were to OP suppossedly , then the Klinks. back and forth - back and forth. I can't dislike the Klink/Romies having cloaks though since they have always had them. Possibly have you team take a pro-active stance in pvp and flush them out.

What I'd like to see is certain Federation escorts (namely the Defiant class) have access to their own cloaking devices.
