Honestly...because once all the people who really don't like the game leave all you'll be left with is a server full of people who love Star Trek. That and the developers seem like they really truly want to make this game better and appeal to exactly the kind of people who watched the shows and movies, and work on creating more of a living universe to explore and connect in. Talk of adding critters to ground areas and off-duty uniforms, Diplomacy and more episodic content. Let's be fair here too the content might be repetative in a lot of cases but generally the storylines are FAR more epic and involved than in other MMOs.

way i look at it is if you honestly enjoy the game, and have no problems with its major componants (like the engine, how its set up) and feel remorse at the idea of leaving, then look at all the things that make you feel like you want to leave.

measure them against each other, the good, the bad and the downright ugly and see what comes out on top.

in short, stay till you honestly feel you cant take no more. if your not sure then tell you what, i still have my buddy key free.. keep an eye out for the big update around day 45 and once it hits, drop me a PM and i'll send the key to you and you have pop back in for a few days and see if those changes are enough to make you want to sub again.. cant have anyone with a quintesson as an avatar leave :p
see this is what im talking about this is the kind of stuff everyone in this community should be working for. While it doesnt really give the best reason to stay, it shows interest in keeping people or bringing them back to. Thank you Shingi.... i really apperciate you post here. Its too bad more arent like you.

I am certain you both could actually come up with some real ideas or reasons why. How about you try that, if you just can't or anyone else just dont bother to post at all.

So far not off to a good start.
So you are wanting someone to talk you into staying?

Nope. If this is how you really feel no amount of reasoning from the community will fill that void.

And since this is about quitting, this thread should be closed.

My reasons for cancelling my sub, not wanting to give them more money, or what ever else you want to call it are moot, too all of you. I am simply asking that you give me some good reasons as to why you think STO is worth continuing to support at this time. I am not looking for blind fan logic, or the opposite. I just want some feedback from those who are staying as to why I should.

You might be asking why you should even bother? Well I have only 1 reason to give for that. The more people who stay and support STO the more money they have to put back into it. While my measly $14.99 doesnt really amount to much, the point is vaild. Who knows you might have that 1 point that others are looking for to stay as well.

I am a firm believer that a games community goes a long way in making or breaking a MMO. If STO is to make it, it will be soley because of its community of supporters who do everything they can to keep the player base as large as possible. Unfortunately, it appears to me that Cryptic/Atari is leaving this job up to the players as well as. So I am asking all those who really want STO to succeed, help me find a reason to stay.

If all you can do is ask for my stuff, flame, or troll my thread then all your doing is proving why the choice to leave is the right one. This is your chance to show your concern about STO's success and help it keep at least 1 more sub, maybe more.
Gear up your ships. I got mk x gear on all of them, consoles not yet, I got the points from doing the daily plus explore combo, just didn't make it to sol yet.

Roll a second character (not kdf till content upgrade) of a different profession. My first character was science, 2nd character is engineering. They play WAY different. Plus, take my word for it you'll enjoy the missions alot better knowing what you doing from a previous playthrough. 2nd character just made tier 2 (forgot rank lol) having a blast.

@OP IF you are looking for this community to be all flower-power, free love and like a large internet hippy commune I think you are going to be disappointed.

Nobody, should ever think... Gee I wanna stay cause the community is awesome. Why? It is wayyyy to dynamic for that.

you are totally right but that doesnt mean that people shouldnt at least try. You never know there might just be that one person out there who just has the right thing to say that will get even you to change your opinion about cryptic/atari.

I have argeed with most of the post you have made on these forums. Yet this time your voice would be better left unheard, unless your just trying to keep others away. I am not asking for anyone to make me do anything. I am asking for some help in finding a reason not to leave. Since Cryptic/Atari cant seem to do it, I feel that if the community can then there is more than just a slight glimmer of hope for STO.

how about the 45day update that is supposed to include stuff making it finally worth playing a Klingon?

I also had an idea yesterday to make an ALT that only plays the complete Episode and Patrol Missions with a Runabout Shuttle... showing everyone that the game is to easy.
Of course this would be VERY UBER HARD with such a limited ship and skills but i think it could be possible with the right skillset and gameplay and an ALT that keeps mailing money and Rare Items and so on.

...or maybe make a group of 5 Shuttles doing it?
