use photoshop or Gimp, wand tool outside the badge. Delete. Set alpha channel and save. Fin!

i have PS CS4 E and i did the wand tool and delete thing, which didn't seem to do much. How do i do the alpha thing, and what should i set it to? idk ps that well.

I remember something similar with counterstrike sprays. I used Gimp for those.

You'll probably have to go back in and clean it up in Photoshop if that box is there now. Then when saving it remember this.

Go to:

Save for Web and devices

Scroll to either .GIF or .PNG24

Cheak the box that say Transparency so there is a green check mark

That should give you the look you want.

I really don't get it, i deleted the background and i have the checkerboard background, but still it comes out white, idk what to do.

are you trying to replace the background with something else...because there is absolutely no way to make the background tranceparent to us.

the background should be transpearent, all you should see is the image, i've seen it on a million avatars, i know it can be done.

I know what ya mean. I'd like to do that with one of my avatars that feature the Enterprise-A. My only guess would be that their background color is the same as that on the side bar of the forums.

nah the transperency should work, the background is dithered on the sidebar, getting the pattern to line up would be really difficult.
