If you are a Science Officer then you can summon a fleet of ships at any point!

That wouldn't be a bad idea! Perhaps the ships would work like your BO's on the ground.

Having actually served in the US Navy, I wholeheartedly agree that having the rank of Rear Admrial (Lower) is not what a player should be able to obtain as easily as we all do. Admirals, from O7 to O10, are fleet leadership and administration. They generally don't command any single vessel. Rather, they will go out with a strike group and make decisions on what that strike group will do to accomplish it's mission. The captains of each individual ship follow those general orders and make specific commands relevant to their ship's purpose in those orders.

Honestly, the only thing an Admiral should command is a desk somewhere. Leave the captaining of the boats to Captains. Let the Admirals be NPC's giving us the orders.

Cryptic have said no to the fleet but are awarding you a pair of glasses so that you can see that your next idea has already been posted a gazillion times.

Yes yes. Please do bother to do an extensive search of the forums before you post an idea.

If it takes you 30 min so be it! If then and only then you're satisfied that you idea for a thread or the game hasnt been covered, please go ahead and search the forums again. Its good to double check.

Then wait a week, and if you STILL dont see the idea after doing another search go ahead and post the idea. Maybe. If you REALLY have too.

In this manner we can keep the forums nice and quiet and prevent any type of discussion at all. Thank you.

Agreed.
We should have topped out at captain with admiral maybe being introduced in an expansion with the super-huge ships and maybe with some sort of strategy/multi-ship gameplay feature (ala RTS or Dominion Wars)

They should add one new sub-commander per rank of Admiral, and those commanders start off with the beginning ship, and then as the Admiral takes them into battle, they get xp, level up, and Admiral can choose their path, ships etc. That would drastically increase the point of the endgame since then you would not just be getting skillpoints for yourself, but you would work on slowly making your underlings all ranked up to captain (and then stop them at captain). An Admiral would then not be maxed out quicly, but instead be slowly working on their fleet and customizing it. Good way to expand the end-game.

I haven't seen it posted before, and if there is so much demand for it that it has been posted so often, maybe that should tell Cryptic something.

Thanks for taking the time to make the post to complain about forum clutter though. Good job.

What sort of discussion can you have if the same topic is posted 58 times wi h 3 or 4 responses on each. Surely it,s better to have 200-300 posts on the same thread so that the devs can see there is a lot of support for it.
