I've read as many posts about Infected as I can find, and I made an attempt to play through it last night. We got two trys at Manus before we had to quit because it was late.

There was an option to "upload virus" when we stood next to the things in the corners, but the guy who was leading the team told us not to, so we just shot the thing in the middle and she came out.

I've read people complain about a 4 minute time limit or some such - we had all the time in the world to deactivate all the shields in the corners.

So, what is this "upload virus" - does it weaken her or just impose a 4 minute countdown that you're better off without?

Im thinking the virus needs to be uploaded to all 4 terminals at once. Once you have all 4 shields down and upload the virus maybe if you fail and reset the shields wont respawn? Didnt get to test the theory last night but I plan to try tonight.

so far the only thing it does is set up a timer before the shields come back up. Which we have tested to be true. Doesn't stop respawning and it doesnt weaken the boss :/

Not the entire answer yet but I would guess that it's supposed to bring down the shield on the thing in the middle after the four corner things have been hacked, but that right now the shield on that thing drops without the virus.

So, until I hear differently I am going to treat it like something you don't need and probably shouldn't do.
