We are investigating an issue where some Gold Members may not have received their additional character slot -- details here.
UPDATE! We are also investigating reports of slow patching and are working on a resolution. For a better patch experience, please restart your launcher. It will pick up where it left off and should be faster to complete.
If you have purchased a Legacy or Starter Pack, please see this thread for instructions on how to claim your items in-game.
If you have additional questions, please read this FAQ.
It could be fun, but not at Earth. You'd have a bunch of Generals constantly making life hell for all the noobs who are only trying to find Sulu.
Also, the instancing would cause a lot of headaches I'm sure.
Maybe it's not possible with the engine, but can't we have a PVP area of every instance ? I mean, when you enter SOL, you have a list of instances, what about a PVP one ? We can even add an option (PVP) you'd have to check to see it (so the noobz won't enter there without knowing what they are doing).
Open PVP is not such a good idea. However, that does not mean that PVP has to be bland, or boring. You can setup plenty of zone capture with objectives and rewards and everything, as long as they are optional.
Let's see what plans they have, but open PVP in all areas (up to Sol) is definitely a no no.

That could be interesting. Then, if you are in another instance in the zone, there could be a system message saying "Sol is under attack!" or something.

This would be the best, and perfectly possible with instancing. Some instances flagged for PVP, others not flagged. Everyone happy.
i had a problem with this question as he did not answer it at all. whats the point of asking questions if they are going to sidestep it.
open pvp does not mean the entire galaxy has to become pvp. my main experience with open pvp is warhammer. whilst you can technically attack anyone at any time, the person you are attacking has to flag themselves for pvp. also enemy cities and towns will be defended by high level npc characters that can kill anything. the main pvp happens in the rvr lakes. these are areas that you do not have to enter but once you do your flagged for pvp. these can change hands and have multiple objectives to capture or defend.
there is no harm in adding systems that can change ownership from fed to klingon, or that can hold large numbers of people as long as people who dont want to do it are not forced to go there so it wont affect them.
i think when people think of open pvp they think of eve and it puts them off but it does not have to be as hardcore as that.
there is of course the issue of making it fair as usually one side outnumbers the other, so you might end up with dozens of feds against one klingon. so even if they make it it may have to be a cross between open pvp and instanced zones so it does not just turn into one sides zerging the other.
Agreed, I was also annoyed by this answer, it was completely non-responsive. I think most who dream of persistant, open PvP would be perfectly happy with territory / stations in the neutral zone being up for grabs. I didn't see any implication in that question inquiring whether the Sol station would be turned into a non-consensual PVP arena. Just give us a persistant Neutral Zone to fight in and capture!!

I like this idea, would make the game interesting.
out of the hundreds of questions asked, i was surprised to see so many picked that could be answered with-
'we're still working on it'
nothing really informative here, nothing really to look forward to-just more of the same.
sorry, customization options aren't going to get people serious about rolling Klingons as mains, let alone alts.
what is going to swell our numbers and get people serious about looking into playing KDF is Episodic PvE content. PERIOD. unfortunately, it's going to be months before we see that become a reality.
check out th 'tentative release calendar'. episodic KLingon PvE is nowhere on there, and it goes all the way to the end of April.
until then, expect the same uneven teams in PvP and unless you have a lot of friends or people in your fleet at GB5, you're going to find getting into a group for Infected to be the hardest part of the STF.
the one thing KLingons need more than star clusters, customization, new ships, all that-
is more people playing our faction. simple as that.
unfortunately there's simply no incentive to pvp a KLingon to level-cap for the majority of players and it's not coming any time soon.

i was under the impression that the major update 1 or what ever its called on the calendar around mid march will have some klingon pve
no idea how much or to what extent it will be but you should get something in the next couple of weeks. hopefully
Yep, that is going to happen. They are going to completely redesign the game after two years of development and the game being open for little more then a month.
At the end of the beta there was a similar event. They allowed the Klings into Sirius Sector Block. It turned into a spawn-camp fest. It was not fun. They would need to totally revamp their map/zone structure in order for open world pvp to have a chance in STO.
This here ^^
I think yall Klinks be overestimating your population numbers by a LOT.
