How about just plain Options?

I will try not to overly critique the game, as I am only a Lt Cdr and have only played for 2 weeks sparingly, but I'm beginning to feel less "Go now, Lt Cdr, and complete your mission! The Federation is depending on you!" and instead just a randomly selected BO telling me "Go here and shoot these 4 things, and press 'F' on these 3 things..."

My suppose my real question is, "Is this an MMORPG, or an MMOG?"
Exploration ≠ following your tricorder to flashing 3D graphic x (although I still enjoy this... immensely)
Diplomacy ≠ buying 1000 - 5000 ECs worth of 2D graphic y

Give me Hello Kitty Island Adventure Mini-Games instead of 'F,' if that's all you've got!

As for canon, as a Trekkie who wants more options including violence (and don't you dare take away my vaporizations) whatever happened to Section 31???
I hear you, man. Gathering data samples has absolutely no star trek flavor to it at all. Exploration missions lack star trek's imagination. I guess beaming down to a planet to gather readings on something and having some kind of meaningful story take place was just too much effort required. Be it simple, like a starnge storm brews up and prevents transporters from working-need to send down a shuttle, to all out weird, sensor scans cause the anomalies to animate to life and possess one of your bridge crew. Anything be better then 1 2 3 4.

They're in the game. Wait til you get closer to Commander. It would be nice if you had the option to be directly recruited by them, though.

It's Star Trek, it's not about who we are in reality, it's about who we can be.

Or who you want to be. The Federation is at war. In war you do what it takes to survive and destroy the enemy.

How many trips to a starbase would you need per mission? lol Cause after a few ppl in the hold its gonna get unsanitary and inhumane in there... especially in a Defiant

I agree that there should be more options, and a certain level of open-endedness for some quests.

Early on, I was escorting some "Starfleet" person(admiral or ambassador, can't remember which), and I KNEW something was completely wrong with them. Just to TRY and have an alternate ending to what I was headed for, I intentionally tried to let her get killed in the final room(instead of focusing on the "enemy"). 0 health, and I learned later that apparently when they look Human they're SUPPOSED to have Human weaknesses, but she lived on and I didn't get to set things right.

THAT disappointed me. When I actually KNEW what was going on, and I still couldn't choose some other option than killing everyone that wasn't supposed to be killed.

...that said, I still want the option for the way it turned out, hehehe.

Like someone said above the consensus is that diplomacy should be available for some players as a option. Personally, I had no problem killing the Romulans or the Jem Hadar eggs.

Sure it is normal to sometimes feel sympathy for an enemy but the fact remains they are your enemy and if the roles were reversed they would kill you with out hesitation. I think, since this is a game it should appeal to a wider group so having diplomacy missions would help with that. Of course, at the same time, I think they should also allow us to slag the planet as well.

I just RP that it is the Mirror-verse. I wish they'd issue the rest of the uniform set. Anyway, if you play it that you are Empire of Terra, it makes a whole lot more sense.

Long live the empire!

Open Hostilities with the Klingons - Check
Open Hostilities with the Romulans- Check
Open Hostilities with the Nausicans- Check
Open Hostilities with the Gorn - Check
Open Hostilities with the Orion Syndicate - Check
Open Hostilities with the Remans - Check
Open Hostilies with the True Way - Check
Open Hostilities with the Terran Federation - Check
