This is something near Cryptic's end that they refuse to take responsibility for.

Fine Cryptic, pretend it's not your problem. I'm sure that'll convince the people who can't play to stick around.
Look.. I live in Texas, USA..

Absolutely 0 lag, absolutely 0 Server not responding, absolutely 0 issues logging in. This evening I logged in from 5 PM to 12 PM CST. Never got bumped from the server.

My connection is Road Runner Cable on a fiber optic connection at 2 MBPS upstream / 30 Mbps down stream. Wired connection (wireles has too much latency for my tastes) to eliminate cellular and wireless telephone interference.

Nothing wrong between me and the servers.. and they are 2007 miles away in Boston, Massachusetts.

So either I have a kick ass connection that overrides trouble in Boston, or the servers are working just fine and other people's ISP's are crapping up.

by the looks of my tracert.. I would guess the latter, especially since I have absolutely 0 issues all day long today.

There appears to be some progress towards getting Europe back onto STO, i've now been able to connect at least and it is no longer suffering disconnects from the server.

But i do have to say, even if this is not Cryptic's fault, their handling of the situation leaves much to be desired. When it takes four hours for them just to acknowledge there is an issue, it doesnt exactly make me feel like a valued customer.

You forget 1 thing.. Cryptic does not own the ISP's in the UK, nor the Trans Atlantic Hub.. It is the responsibility of the ISP to make sure the connection is decent, not Cryptic.

I didnt say that it was. It is however their responsibility to report any issues that may affect a players ability to actually play the game. Instead we were left in silence for four hours. That is what i am not impressed by.

You're not convincing me that this wasn't a problem near their end. Whether YOU weren't affected is irrelevant, the point is they outright lied about Euro ISP outages (there were none)

So Cryptic is suppose to monitor every ISP in the world to make sure that people can play? .. PFFFT

If you are having issues connecting, Run a Trace RT.. see where the problem is, and call your ISP and see if there are issues that they are having and ask their CS what the ETA is on it being fixed.

All Cryptic can do is get reports from players and maybe post a futile post that some people are experiencing connection issues out of their control. AKA, they can't do anything about it.

So you can blame Cryptic because your ISP or a WWW connection hub that your ISP connects to is on the blink... but the fact reamins that it is a problem outside the ability of Cryptic to fix or resolve.. that is an issue for your ISP to handle.

Check my TraceRT .. there are no issues at Cryptic's end, other than a 72 ms ping time. Documentation is posted above.

4 hours from when? the first person saying they couldn't connect? you not being able to connect?

4 hours is pretty good for investigating and reporting on a problem that has nothing to do with them.
