So last night while knocking heads with a Dominion battlegroup, I got to wondering about some things. Namely, throughout history, each side has had a nickname for the other in a major conflict. While some are simply ethnic slurs, others are more in line with a general term or slang with less malice. See The Huns (ww1) the Franks (Crusades), and so on.
Miles O'Brian referred to Cardasians as Cardies on several occasions, and then last night a team member called them Spoons, a less friendly, but seemingly appropriate epiphyte for them.
What kind of nicknames/short hand do you use for the various races in STO?
Humans - Idiots
Klingons - Snickers
Romulans - Totally Rommies here as well
Nausicaans - Valley of the Wind people
Vulcans - Vullies
Borg - Burg
Talaxian(ok so not here but it is a funny one] - Lion in the kitchen
Klingons - Klings or Ridges
Romulans - (this term removed for reasons of politeness) or dark Vuls
Hirogen - Hunters
Remans - Vamps
Cardasians - Spoons
Federation (in general) - Feddies
~Vulcans - Elves
~Andorians - Ants
Admiral Hazard is a pretty tolerant guy. He's got a Klingon Captain of Marines, an Orion XO, and a half-Cardassian tactical officer (who, incidentally, is the sibling of my half-Cardassian alt). Typically, other species are referred to by the proper names. Cardassians are Cardassians, Klingons are Klingons, etc.
